That's work safety for you

If this were anywhere in the USA OHSA would probably give the company alot of trouble… (like being shut down in a new york minute)

That’s a 8 floor drop on the other side of the ledge!

Mei Guan Xi la!

u should throw one of those plastic “look-a-like” snakes at him

Work safety? Loss control? What the hell are you talking about?

The last Safety Officer I worked with here in Taiwan left a couple of months ago. Finally gave up, disheartened and disillusioned, had enough of the stupidity and ignorance, the blatant defiance of company employees, contractors, clients, etc, etc, etc.

It just shows you money ain’t everything… he got paid US$10,000 per month, PLUS a housing subsidy, company car, and daily expense account.

Said he had enough of being the big, bad foreigner stopping work, revoking permits, etc. for unsafe practices.

I think I should write a book on Darwin award entries just in Taipei county alone. I saw a group of guys (I didnt get a pic) standing on top of this wooden device they were using as a table saw to reach for something higher. If you did that in your high school shop class you will most likely get smacked by the shop teacher. It wasn’t even a proper table saw with all the neccssary safety features, it was a skil saw (one of those circular saws you hold in your hand and cuts boards) that was flipped upside down, the trigger was clamped shut so it stays on forever, and a circuit breaker (high amperage) used as a switch… no guards or anything… I would fashion a device like this but not without a proper guard… I had some scary experience with table saws before.

Was he wearing blue or green plastic slippers (flip-flops)?
