I loved that play. Sweeeeeet! Especially pulling it off on the shitty sad-sack Yanks.
One word best sums up the Chicago Cubs…futility.

The Rocket…is back.
Roger Clemons is back for another abbreviated season, this time with the Yanks. Pitched a decent first game back against Pittsburgh as inter-league game play takes place this weekend. The NYY are on a bit of a roll too, having slung together a string of wins just recently.

That was a great ending to the game this morning…or was it yesterday? Either way, we happy here.
CM Wang has gotta dig Clemons joining the Yankees pitching staff. To share time with him there is good for Wang. It would be cool to glean some info from Roger.
It was really good to watch a good game during rainy day.
Clemons was pretty good in this game.
Great comeback!
Yeah now that Roger has thrown a good game against THE FREAKING PIRATES the Wankees are only 9.5 games behind the Sox…start printing those playoff tickets…
Let’s see yer man make 3 or 4 starts against an AL lineup before we get ahead of ourselves.
As a wise man told me in 1987, Ruojah Clemens…million duolah ahhm, two duolah hed (Massholes need no translation).
GO SOX

Your fear is clear.
It’s snot even summer yet bub.
The Red Sox are due for a dose of adversity this season yet. It’ll come. No club is spared injuries. We’ll see how confident these convenient bandwagon-jumping Boston fans are then, when their Division lead dwindles.
But hold on Yankees fans, that’ll be the Blue Jays edging up there, not NY.
GO JAYS

Fear? No fear, though of course Mer is right, there’s bound to be some adversity ahead and also the Yankees seem to have woken up a bit. Melky in center is a big upgrade defensively-- did you see his catch in the triples corner in the last game of the last sox-yanks series at Fenway? Saved them two runs and the game.
The Red Sox bandwagon? It was invented in 2004. If you had put those words together in 2001 you would have been ridiculed. The Red Sox bandwagon is like the Red Sox payroll, sure it’s huge…but not as big as the Yankees (yes I know the gap is closing and yes I know the $51mil to talk to Matsuzaka doesn’t count against the payrol and if it were included…BUT that is about the same money the Yanks have spent on luxury tax in the last two seasons…how did that work out by the way?)
Sure that’s little consolation to the rest of the league, but at least many fans can agree to hate the Yankees.
Not so many people on the Blue Jays bandwagon…
How many people here who wear Yankees hats could name 5 players on the team?

Most people wear the hat for the logo. Most Taiwanese only know 1 player. Most Dodger cap wearers wear it for the LA logo. No one wears Mets hats cuase there ugly. No one wants to be from Anaheim, not even the Angels.
I wouldn’t mind the Yanks making the regular season at least a little bit interesting and, you know, finally getting above .500.

Come on JD!! This is a family site!!
That’s exactly what I’m talking about. The Red Sox win it all in 2004, and all of a sudden everyone is a freaking Red Sox fan! It made me sick. Truly. I didn’t mind them coming back from down 3-0 to beat the Yankees, that was a thing of beauty, but winning it all produced a lot of convenient fans. Now that they’ve won it recently, I’m really sick of the hype. I don’t have Yankees hatred, and I’m not a fan of them either, but nowadays if it is between Boston and NY, I’m going to support the Yankees.
Cheers JD,
But I didn’t mean you. I mean locals who first started wearing the logo because of hip-hop fashion and later because Wang became a star. Don’t get me wrong, I support Taiwanese baseball and I actually pull for him to have a good season when he’s not facing the Red Sox. I know you’ve got NY State roots and wasn’t suggesting you were a bandwagon-hopper…

All Star Game votes?
No pitchers!
I agree Mer, that was kind of my point.
I’ve been a fan since I was 8, but I agree that the Sox have become a fashionable cause. Just makes it harder for me to get tickets when I go back.
I’d much rather watch the Yanks make a solid run and end with a bitter taste of disappointment than to be below .500 all year. It wouldn’t stop me from trash-talking though; I heard enough of that through 4 years of college in NY State during the dynasty run.

Wow, the shame! You should never show your face in McDonlads again!
Qingdao, you’re certainly right about there being not much of a Blue Jays bandwagon. They aren’t a favorite, but they do have an interesting team that should be, and currently is, competitive this season. Toronto fans lament being stuck in the same goddamn division as the Yankees and Red Sox.
It was absolute ecstasy having the World Series banner fly north of the border for two seasons in a row though. Seems like a long time ago, sadly.
Etched in my brain:
The WS win over Philly, with Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams pitching, and Joe Carter slams a homer to send Toronto to victory. Seeing Joe hop, skip and jump around the bases like an 8 year-old will never wear out for me.
The WS win over Atlanta was also sweet, giving the ATL fans and the team their own stupid “Tomahawk Chop” fan cheer back to them as we went on to win. Seeing the whole Sky Dome crowd doing it in mocking fashion, also is one for the ages.
LA seems to have a bunch of 100mph relievers…damn!
