I must defer to you on that because I don’t know follow UK politics closely enough.
Kinda like this?
Well there were a few factors but the most prominent was an embracing of progressive views.
I expect to see the same in the US, especially as post Oct7th the progressive wing is most vocal and visable in their opposition to Israeli policies.
I would also add, the left leaning Jewish voters in the UK don’t want to leave the left, Ive talked with some who were not even Jewish who have voted left all their lives but won’t cast a vote for them as long as they espouse the progressive views. Many are quite despondent in fact because they don’t want to or wont vote right wing so are left without a party they feel they can vote for
Some are choosing Liberal, but thats pretty much a wasted vote.
DeSantis eventually insulted these neo-Nazis as “jackasses” during a press conference — but doubled down on the notion that the threat was overhyped by his political opponents. He blasted the “Democrats who are trying to use this as some type of political issue to smear me, as if I had something to do with it.” He added: “We’re not playing their game.”
Seems that he did respond. How many times does he need to respond?
The governor has since observed a strategy of silence in response to neo-Nazi actions in the state — even when hate groups have invoked his name and political imagery. In July 2022, a group of neo-Nazis set up camp in front of a right-wing youth conference in Tampa, holding lightning bolt ‘SS’ flags, Nazi posters, and a banner reading “DeSantis Country.” One held a sign trolling DeSantis as “our glorious leader.”
They don’t seem to be in cahoots.
No one is suggesting DeSantis is a neo-Nazi sympathizer. Nor that the Nazis themselves are earnestly enamored of the governor. DeSantis has made a pair of ceremonial trips to Israel to sign state legislation, most recently in April giving law enforcement new tools to prosecute crimes of hate, including antisemitism, and vowing that perpetrators “will be punished.” On Tuesday, state police arrested a neo-Nazi for “criminal mischief” for hanging antisemitic banners over an Orlando freeway during a June 10 hate action.
They really don’t.
So, kinda no.
DeSantis himself gave a similar answer in response to a Jewish voter who questioned him directly about neo-Nazis sporting his flag, during a “conversation with the candidate” that aired in early August in Manchester, New Hampshire. Without directly condemning the haters, DeSantis bragged that he’d made Florida the most “pro-Israel state in America,” spent millions on security for Jewish day schools, and vowed to “defeat the scourge of anti-semitism.” As for the neo-Nazis waving his banner: “Those are not true supporters of mine,” he said. “That is an operation, to try to link me to something so that it smears me.” DeSantis added: “They are trying to divide, by using that as a weapon against me.”
Kinda like what you seem to be doing here and now. ![]()
Sounds similar to the bind progressive Jews find themselves in the states. The Dems are supposed to represent, well, Democracy but instead they’re silent about Bibis war.
The divide in the US is between the orthodox that support right wingers heavily and secular/non religious Jews nearly all of whom vote Dem.
(I posted the breakdown for that at @bojack s request a couple days ago)
Most vocal wing and because the Democrat party indulges them (or is afraid of them, take your pick) the number of Jews leaving the party is sure to grow this year.
My point is that indulging the pro-Hamas wing of the Democrat party, small as it may be, is of course causing some Democrats to become independents available for capture by the GOP.
You’ve failed to name a single one and seem incapable of finding an example.
If the GOP sticks with Trump, that seems unlikely
I saw it and the percentages lean heavily towards the left still in the US and with Democrat leadership like Biden throwing his full weight behind Israel there is unlikey to be the same exodus we saw in the UK where Labour leadership embraced the progressive views.
But the writting is on the wall, its the younger generation of Democrats are the most outspoken amongst Democrats being critical of Bidens stance wrt his handling of the Israel/Palestinian conflict.
Why do you think that is?
Because the respectable ones don’t self-identify as pro-Hamas. Corollary to “watch what they do not what they say.”
Trump will make it harder than it should be, but not because of his stance on Israel.
80% of Dems want a cease fire. 60% of Americans do.
Re young Dems, they don’t want their tax money or support going to killkng civilians. Can you blame them?
So you cannot name a single example but continue to insist it’s true
Mkay
They seem willing to make an exception for Israeli civilians.
Name one that has said so
People are cagey about vocalizing support for Hamas because they have been designated a terrorist organization in the US. Surely you know that?
Zero examples. It’s been hours.
First hit on google. Last time I do your homework for you.
College campuses across America have devolved into open displays of support for terrorism and antisemitism since October 7. The barbaric attack by Hamas on Israeli civilians and soldiers has resulted in widespread intimidation of Jewish students and energized groups like Students for Justice in Palestine, which openly sympathizes with Hamas.

Yes yes you hate colleges.
Now back to the question—which Dem politicos. Supported Hamas. You keep bringing it up. Just name one. Just one.
Come on bro you got this.
I found this poll, from this think tank, via AJ, who calls this think tank:
Data for Progress, a progressive US think tank
I find the question they use, well, it’s actually two questions smashed together, to be kina iffy. It’s like asking do you want the war to end and peace to prevail?
And it has been pointed out several times that no one has to answer anyone’s repeated badgery requests.
