Dear All,
My dear darling cat of twelve years is in a bit of trouble. He is using his litter tray every ten mins and there is clearly blood evident (and not much else).
I remember my childhood cat of 16 years also had a problem and this was the beginning of her end. Is it so again, or could there be another explanation? He had the same problem last week for a few days, seemed to recover, and then relapsed today…
calling any experts.
TFL
Could be a urinary tract infection. Could be kidney/bladder stones. Could be anything. Take your baby to a VET asap.
booked in already for 10.45 am tomorrow. My wife’s taking him…will say my goodbye tonight just in case…
can’t believe he turned from being a baby into an old man in the blink of an eye…where did the time go?
He deserves to be honoured…and if these are his last few hours/days, I want him to be in peace.
Thanks
TFL
Sorry to hear that mate. I lost my beloved cat Dave 2 weeks ago (he was living out his golden years with my mum and dad) who lived to the ripe old age of 17. I know how hard this can be.
Good luck, TfL! Jimi and his baby are holding thumbs!
TFL, kitty had a good life because he had you. No matter what happens, the love you gave fills him.
Update, please!
While pets are the just about the best things in life, pet lovers come a close second, once again reaffirmed by all your messages of support. Thank you!
The update: last night’s post was written with tears streaming down my face and when I said goodbye to our cat this morning, I thought it would be a final one. It wasn’t. We took him to the wonderful “Cloud Veterinary Hospital” in Tienmu on ShiPai Road, near the veterans Hospital. He was x-rayed and it was discovered he had bladder inflammation. Basically, crystals in his bladder which would, if left untreated, turn into stones. He was having to push so hard to excrete urine which was the cause of the blood. We’ve bought him some special dry food and he is sitting relatively happily in his bowl on our dining room table.
There’s clearly life in him yet and fingers crossed he will live for years to come. I will continue to love and cherish him and try not to get annoyed when he jumps on my desk and lays on top of my books preventing me from working, or when he walks across the computer keyboard when I’m in the middle of emailing!! In fact, I’m going to make a mental note of telling myself how lucky I am, everytime he does it!!!
Thank you all, you kind souls.

Beautiful end to the story. Thanks for letting us know.
Fantastic news, TfL! made me weep tears of joy! :bravo:
Thanks for that man!
Glad to hear your good news. Both of our male cats had (have) the exact same problem. Good that you got it treated because it can kill very quickly if the kidneys close up shop. You have to keep him on the special urinary tract food from now on.
Our Xiaohu got it not long ago and it was a couple of nasty vet visits (although he was fully anaethsitised both times). I have tried but failed several times to get him to take BARF but he’ll have none of it, so he gets dry shite from the vets at 900 bucks a bag. But it works.
Just read this; wonderful news! Hope kitty is feeling better!
