This doesn’t sound like the best summer of my life, not even a little bit of the best summer of my life. The best summer of my life involved an Australian girl and a succession of beaches in Greece. And vodka. The music was pretty good too, yet another way in which even a moderately acceptable summer would differ from the one containing an event like the one above.
The third best sumer of my life lasted 18 months, on account of me avoiding winter by moving hemispheres. That was waaaay cooler than anything involving self-absorbed DJs and what passes for a resort in Taiwan.
I’m torn between feeling sorry for you because this is the best you can imagine, and annoyed because you think this is as much as I aspire to. Perhaps you should modify the subject line of your post?
How about “As good as it gets in Taiwan, if you like this sort of thing, which not everybody does”?

Oi, madam, this should be right up your alley. This guy is talking directly TO you now, at your level. Beach, women, booze. You should be all over this like a (insert pithy comment).
Some folks are so hard to please!

I don’t get it?
Why rain on someone elses parade when yours has run out of steam at the last turn a quarter mile back?
Was the post directed at you? Did it say “Hey Loretta YOU COME NOW!” Don’t like what you see then don’t go, don’t participate, don’t acknowledge. Much less venom on the forums with just some consideration but I guess they ran all out at the store and had a sale on cyniscism.
I do hope you enjoy your summer even if it’s not the best one ever. Myself? Maybe I’ll try to top the best one I’ve had.
I guess it’s ok to be rude to people as long as there post counts don’t exceed a certain number on this forum.
Hmmm. Maybe this should be an example of why its important to choose thread titles carefully. Ideally, the title should reflect the content, otherwise you get geriatrics like Loretta foaming at the mouth and tumbling over their zimmers.
Plus, the first day of the best summer of your life was actually this PAST Saturday at the hoping for hoping peacefest.

But Loretta, you misunderstand. Nowhere does it say that this event will be responsible for making this the best summer of your life. It just says that the best summer of your life will start this Sunday. Strange, because I thought the summer solstice signified the start of summer, but hey - if this is going to be the best summer of my life, an early start is definitely a good thing!
Actually, the event looks like fun. Maybe I’ll go.
Edit: Is it just me or does the first poster looks like it’s promoting an event for sexy double amputees?
Wave your stumps in the air like you just don’t care!
damn, i go to work for twelve hours and i come back to a riot. nice. let me start by saying that every year around this time, i think “damn, this is going to be the best summer of my life,” hence the title. it’s just a mental state, you’ve got to do the rest.
now loretta, it sounds like you had quite a run there with your 18 months of summer. i have thought about that with spring cause im a bit too sweaty in the summer. and calling me self-absorbed? you must know me. i spent the last month and a half trying to find a really good place to put on a fantastic party. i saw shitty pools. i saw indoor pools. i saw kiddie pools. i saw crappy beaches. i saw beaches that used to be nice but now look awful. and then i came across this TKFarm place. is it nicer than a greek island? even though ive never been im going to go out on a limb and say no. but damn this place is beautiful. surrounded by mountains. cold water from the streams, not from the tap. and there will be plenty of great music, burgers, hot dogs and drinks and good people just soaking it all in. some people may call it self-absorbed, but i call it promotion. and Loretta, since you were the first to reply, send me an email to DJMarcusA (a) gmail.com with your first and last name and i will put you on the guestlist and give you a free drink or two.
sandman, i was at peacefest friday and you were right, it was good. and im looking at it like the hollywood movie schedule where every year they keep bringing summer blockbusters back a couple weeks. didn’t 300 come out in feb?
did i mention there will be a bikini cartwheel contest and a group chicken fight?
I’m starting to like you, even though I don’t like DJs.
The mini-rant was aimed at the non-specifity of the title, that’s all. I’m sure your event will be a lot of fun for the people who go there, as they have chosen to go after reading a fairly informative poster. I, on the other hand, was suckered into the thread by a misleading title and I’m not going to get my legs amputated just so’s I can be in with the in crowd. :raspberry:
Moving on, I’m glad that this summer is going to be the best of my life. Presumably this means it will stop raining very soon and the weather will be just perfect for the next 3-4 months? The good people of Taiwan will finally discover the joys of rock music and suntans? Someone will clean up the beaches and fire those buffoons at ICRT? I’ll get the high-paying and fun p/t job I’m after at the moment and celebrate by buying a new bigger motorbike? A new yacht club with a fleet of racing boats and enough people to operate them will miraculously appear. Oh, and someone will open a really great curry house withing ten minutes walk of home, which will have a lovely verandah on which to enjoy those summer evenings without fear of rain, in the company of some adventurous intellectual young lovely with larger than average breasts and a fascination for blowjobs. She will be able to swim, in the sea, use handtools, and will encourage me in my other endeavours and I will achieve a few of the other things I’ve been putting off for a while, including making quantum leaps with my Taiji.
Great! Can’t wait!! I’m looking forward to the onset of autumn, which will find me bronzed, muscular and obscenely healthy, cruising back from a yacht race on my throbbing machine, discussing marketing strategy for my burgeoning business or how stirling engines work with the nubile and incredibly stimulating young lady behind me, on our way to a steaming fahl, the sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd blasting out of every shop we pass. I’ll be ready for some rain by then.
Sadly, I’ll probably spend the next few months fighting trafic in the rain and wondering what’s going to go wrong with the bike next, the steady stream of cute shallow young ladies I encounter in my professional and personal lives will continue to know little and opine less, I will continue to be assaulted on all sides by the same crap music, and the bland poor quality stuff that passes for curry in this town will still ail to measure up to the curries I grew up with. All small stuff, and Taiwan’s still not a bad place to live, but if you really think that anything this island has to offer will ever qualify as ‘best’ then you need to get out more. Promotion’s all very well, but let’s be realistic shall we? Hanging out with a bunch of amputees in a bath in the rain?
he’s a DJ/promoter people…it’s his job to pump up his gigs with outrageous claims…plus a little bit of positivity never went amiss…
me, i’m still nursing a hangover from Sunday nite, plus i’m sodden from driving to work in the pouring rain…thing’s can only get better is my motto for the day…
im glad that’s settled. also, loretta i know a guy who can fix scooters for cheap if you need it.
anyway, if you haven’t checked the blog, there are a couple free MP3s up there with more to come every day. So I’m trying to give you something for my spam. It’s only fair.
I’m trying to avoid replying 'cos I’m just a grumpy old git. Hope you’re not taking this personally, and enjoy your day out. Try not to let it rain either.
After a lot of careful thought and consideration, we have decided that SundayBreeze Pool Party will be postponed until next Sunday June17. Thank you for your support.
Will you have KTV girls there? The best parties I went to in Taichung all featured girls from the Golden Jaguar.
The pool party is on. The sky is blue and the drinks will be cold. Spend a wonderful afternoon in the water. Check http://www.sundaybreeze.wordpress.com for details. See you at the pool.
