Doubt it… It would take longer than that to get the ships there. However, it did coincide with a US admiral’s visit to Australia.

Yep, it looks like the ships were already in the area a week ago.

The Australian military was unaware of Chinese warships performing live firing exercises off the coast of NSW.
They had to be alerted by a commercial airline pilot to notice.
