The Classic Bar/Jukebox songs

You know what they are. The 1st ones you heard the first time you got drunk with friends over beer or whatever was floating your boat at the time.

“Paradise by the Dashboard light”
I was 15 working my first job as a camp counselor (:duh: could that have lead me here?!) At a honky tonk bar in upstate New York. I coming from the emerging Rap generation was introduced to drinking Budweiser while shouting out a great song in unison. I guess now I’m ready for the big leagues when I go to Ireland

New York New York
My Kind of Town
Sweet Home Alabama

Those are just a few I can think of at the moment…

Hotel California, obviously. :unamused:

‘Sit Down’ by James. The jukebox in the 6th form common room was stuck on this song. I was the vice-chairgirlie and treasurer of the Students’ Assssociation. Everyone was looking to me to heal their pain and the arsewit chair wouldn’t co-sign my request for a jukebox-fixing-man to sort it out because he wanted the money to support he and his godbothering mates’ trip to Taize.

So me and Anne, who had full control of the college media, wrote a scathing front page expose of how these filthy beasts were imposing their filthy necrodestinational dogma on the righteous of the 6th form. Simon, Lorna and Graham, as a protest, played the same song over and over again on the school radio station which nearly started world war 3 because it was on in the canteen for all of the lunch break every day.

We got the free trip to Taize cancelled. The principal refused to fix the juke box, though. One day Anne kicked it really hard. It switched records and then got stuck on that David Bowie song; ‘Ground control to Major Tom…’

At least it was a change.

My high school weekends were punctuated by “pit parties”, where we would pile into whoever’s truck and go to a remote location like a gravel pit and drink Molson Canadian and puke on each other.

I remember hearing lots of Poison, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Kiss, ACDC, Metallica, Eagles. Lynyrd Skynrd, And stuff like that. Guns n’ Roses Appetite for destruction was BIG! Still an awesome album. Sometime later Nirvana came along and changed everything.

The same music was played at every house party and every bar, unless it was country/western.
