Their criticism is accurate.
They can do whatever they want. I think it’s fair for people to understand their business model. Pointing out a criticism is not the same as trying to cancel. I see this reaction over and over whenever the criticism is directed at a conservative news source, politician, influencer etc. If you want to both sides to have a voice, then being open to criticism is part of that.
