The Democratic Wing of the Republican Party

Many Democrats have expressed admiration for John McCain. Well, people, here’s what HE thinks about the Iraq War:

McCain, a friend of Kerry and a fellow Vietnam War veteran, refused to join the Kerry bashing and said he was “fortunate” to call many Democrats his friends.

But he defended the war in Iraq, saying that even if Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, the stated reason for going to war, “he would have acquired them again.”

Our choice wasn’t between a benign status quo and the bloodshed of war. It was between war and a graver threat,” he said. “Only the most deluded of us could doubt the necessity of this war.

McCain drew the night’s biggest response with his reference to “a disingenuous filmmaker who would have us believe that Saddam’s Iraq was an oasis of peace.”

These are two different subjects.

Is that why you titled the 2nd thread (now merged here) “The Democratic Wing of the Republican Party II”?

I was just being cute, but since Germans have no sense of humor. . . . :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, Dems put a lot of faith in using McCain for their own PR purposes. They soooooooooooooo much wanted him as the VP. Oh, you could hear the giddyness from reporters when asking Kerry or even McCain about running on the ticket. It would have been a collective orgasm on the part of Dems if McCain dised Bush. But alas, not the case.
