The Downfall of the Dominion of Canada in 4D

I was talking about these.

Alberta is not the West and not every province wants the things you would enact. Even in Alberta, the majority do not want a provincial pension plan or a provincial police department. They’ve done surveys on this but the UCP is pushing it to appease their base. They did a survey on the pension plan that was so biased it was laughable and they had to be sued in order for the comments to be released.

The prairie provinces - okay yeah they are roughly similar except for the Rockies splitting BC away.

Did ya know that Vancouver Island in 1869 even petitioned to join the US? Didn’t work out clearly

yeah. population numbers greater is a good start. lol

You are also describing the US. Americans were originally British, they had a revolution, but under your somewhat ethno-nationalistic take, Americans would still be British, but oh no they have diluted their Britishness over the years. Americans mustn’t have any true identity, oh no their country will fail.

If so, that was before the nation of Canada existed.

The elite on Vancouver Island much preferred joining the US. Similar with Newfoundland in 1948 wherein the moneyed St. John’s folk (e.g., Crosby political family) much preferred to remain a colony or to join the US. Anything but ally with the peasant, Joey Smallwood. I know old-school families in BC (who have islands in BC and around the world, city streets named after them, statues in the legislature, etc.) whose ancestors were instrumental in bringing BC into Confederation and have said it was a mistake given the power inequalities with the East.
