The Durham Investigation Thread

Deviancy has been defined down so far that few senior politician’s or bureaucrat’s turpitude is ever deemed by a bipartisan body of opinion to have risen to the level of an unforgivable transgression.
This is likely to be proven again as more stinking details ooze out about the business dealings and influence-peddling of President Biden’s family. Newly revealed documents expose another money network linking the president’s son, Hunter, and shady Chinese investors, this time through the University of Pennsylvania, where Biden was discovered in January to have left classified papers.
The chief executive of China Merchants Bank, which gave $5.5 million to Penn in 2018 and 2019, happened to be a member of an influential entrepreneurs’ club that linked to the Chinese Communist Party, and also happened to meet with Biden when he was vice president. Another Chinese firm, which gave Penn $1 million in 2019, was also a major shareholder in a mining company that three years earlier bought a mine in Congo with the help of a company founded by Hunter Biden.

“On the heels of learning that the Biden family received millions of dollars from foreign entities, this latest revelation raises further questions about the scope of President Biden’s ties to China,” AFT’s Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland told the Washington Examiner. “We now know that the University of Pennsylvania — home to Joe Biden’s namesake think tank — received a massive increase in contributions from China and Hong Kong as he was ramping up his presidential campaign, and has raked in millions from CCP-tied donors since he took office.”

Reminds me of the Clinton Foundation that went out of business when Shillary lost to Trump.

One donor in 2019 was Cathay Fortune, a Shanghai-based private equity firm that gave the university $1 million and was a major investor in the metal and phosphate mining company China Molybdenum Company Limited, now called CMOC Group Limited. Three years earlier, in 2016, China Molybdenum received a helping hand to buy a cobalt mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from Bohai Harvest RTS (Shanghai) Equity Investment Fund Management Company, also known as BHR.
BHR was co-founded in 2013 by Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca Partners investment firm, along with two Chinese asset managers and the Boston-based Thornton Group LLC. Hunter Biden owned a 10% stake in BHR, after leaving its board, through his company Skaneateles LLC, documents show. A lawyer for Hunter Biden claimed to the New York Times in 2021 that he “no longer holds any interest, directly or indirectly, in either BHR or Skaneateles."
“It’s no surprise that Chinese donors who engaged in shady deals with Hunter Biden have donated to the University of Pennsylvania,” House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) told the Washington Examiner. “The American people deserve to know whether the Chinese Communist Party, through Chinese companies, influenced potential Biden administration policies with large, anonymous donations to UPenn and the Penn Biden Center.”

And are we supposed to now believe that the FBI doesn’t set people up?

Some FBI mistakes.

Charles Dolan is a Washington creature — public relations consultant by day, Hillary Clinton loyalist by night. One of his employers was the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s outfit. He made business trips to Moscow and hobnobbed with senior Putin aides such as the dictator’s spokesman.
In 2016, the year of the dossier, Mr. Dolan also hung out with Russian Igor Danchenko. He was the No. 1 paid source for Mr. Steele, a former British spy Christopher Steele. This is at the same time Mr. Steele was tapping out dossier chapters in London and sending it to Mrs. Clinton’s operative Fusion GPS in Washington, which sent the allegations to the media and FBI.
Mr. Durham writes of the amazing coincidences of Mr. Dolan speaking to Russians whose names then showed up as dossier items, such as Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s supposed trip to Prague to cover up Trump computer hacking. And then there is the item about Russian diplomat Mikhail Kalugin, who was supposedly spirited out of Washington because he did the hacking. Neither Prague nor fleeing happened.
To Mr. Durham’s staff, Mr. Dolan denied or could not remember certain encounters. Still, Mr. Durham concluded that he was Mr. Danchenko’s source for the most titillating dossier morsel: That Mr. Trump frolicked with prostitutes at the Moscow Ritz. Given that Mr. Dolan had visited the hotel and talked to staff, Mr. Durham wrote: “In light of these facts, there appears to be a real likelihood that Dolan was the actual source of much of the Ritz Carlton … information contained in the Steele Reports.”
Here’s the bizarre part. The FBI learned of Mr. Dolan early on from the man himself, Mr. Steele. But agents never interviewed Mr. Dolan, never talked to the man who mingled in all the camps — Washington, Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Danchenko and the Kremlin.
Some FBI personnel detailed to Robert Mueller’s special Russia investigation wanted to interview him. But someone higher up nixed the idea.

Comey is a scumbag.

According to special counsel John Durham’s report, the team reviewing the intelligence was told in a meeting with a top member of the Trump-Russia collusion probe to “be careful” because “issues relating to Steele were under intense scrutiny.” Dina Corsi, the deputy assistant director for counterintelligence, then ordered that findings be reported only “orally.” One FBI lawyer told the Durham team it was “the most inappropriate operational or professional statement” he’d ever heard at the FBI and that he was so “appalled,” he walked off the review. The lawyer didn’t know exactly who’d given the order but said Ms. Corsi was “speaking for FBI leadership.”

Readers won’t find many direct quotes in the report from former Director James Comey or former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe—both refused to cooperate with Mr. Durham. Mr. Comey has publicly distanced himself from events, honing his mastery of “I don’t recall.” The Durham report gives the lie to this claim, which in turn explains what went wrong. The Trump probe was run by the “seventh floor”—by two men who were thrilled to be playing political kingmakers, and who broke all the rules.

The roots of the collusion investigation were planted in early April 2016, when Mr. Comey requested from underlings “relevant information pertaining to any Presidential candidate.” (He was already deep in the Hillary Clinton email probe.) The report says that he was then briefed that the New York field office was looking at recently named Trump adviser Carter Page. It wasn’t “concerned about Page” so much as the “Russians reaching out” to him. Yet the Page case and “ones like it” became a “top priority for Director Comey.”

There’s a lot of news being dumped today:

The bombshell report also reveals three different FBI field offices, in Washington, D.C., Little Rock, Arkansas, and New York, launched investigations into the Clinton Foundation in early 2016 for ‘possible criminal activity.’
One of the investigations was partly based on statements made in journalist Peter Schweizer’s 2015 book, Clinton Cash, claiming the Clintons’ charity was taking millions in donations from foreign governments trying to change US foreign policy while Hillary was Secretary of State.
But despite making progress, all four criminal investigations were shut down by senior officials, Durham found.

This is the one and only reason I would support a second Trump administration. Run this shit down. The Clinton Foundation was a massive international grift.

He doesn’t have a good track record of that, though it would be interesting. I might have felt compelled to vote for him out of simple fairness, but stop the steal was too much.

Some states post election found that democrats led illegal changes to state voting laws. There are tens of millions of ballots that may have been contested over validity that were not. Also Zuckerberg paid perhaps half a billion dollars to have democrat voters registered. Image the outrage if Elon Musk did the same thing in 2024 for the GOP. Anyway what Zuckerberg did was not illegal back then but would not be allowed today.

Yeah, and the imma get ya back is really dangerous, even when full investigations are really really needed to restore public trust.

Trump botched the covid mail in movement. He was stupid to do so. But that is beside the point. The election wasn’t stolen. He got outfoxed and simply doubled down on himself, and that’s not what we wanted from the guy who got covid and stood breathing through his teeth at the White House.

Hawley: One of the key people who pushed this lie at the time, Jake Sullivan, Hillary Clinton’s right hand man, is now the National Security Advisor of the United States government working for Joe Biden. How is he still in office? How can this guy show his face? He should be removed immediately by the president.

UK ALA T-1 went on to tell the Inspection Division that in discussing the matter with a senior British Intelligence Service-I official, the official was openly skeptical, said the FBI’s plan for an operation made no sense, and asked UK ALAT-1 why the FBI did not just go to Papadopoulos and ask him what they wanted to know, a sentiment UK ALAT-1 told investigators that he shared.

Agree the GOP was outplayed on mail in ballots. However it should not have been allowed for Zuckerberg to fund that. It is not allowed now. The issue was that some state supreme courts also ruled after the election that democrats changed voting and counting of ballots to be illegal. Those votes should not have counted but too late election was certified.

Good thing they won’t be releasing news like thatbthing about Hillary’s emails, what a stupid move that was

The larger question in all this is do you want free and fair elections and when elections are over do you want the government bureaucracy and media to honor the will of the people.

or

A know it all intelligence community combined with media outlets including digital doing everything they can do persuade the public to make the “right” decision by any means necessary including deception and when things don’t go their way use every dirty trick to try and undo an election that was determined by the will of the people.

If you like the second one, it’s really not all that different from the system China has set up where a few elites determine who can and can’t be their leader.

We want to crush the political opposition by any means necessary. “Democratic principles” are a ruse the Patriarcy concocted to keep women and Minorities down.

I guess maybe Trump shouldn’t have been blathering on about other lesser important things then. I mean there was a National panic going on, but in hindsight, he’s just a jackass.

Women or menstruating persons?

Fox news on Sling TV has been cutting out with error messages for the last few days when the Durham release is discussed. Hard to dismiss as a tech difficulty when I have not had this issue prior.
