Amusing but I would take the French elite forces any day. They have quite a reputation and a deserved one for being the best in the world. Right up there with the top Israeli units.

They are Royal Marines. The video is now being used to stress the importance of a recce before a beach landing.

My friend got stuck in quicksand when we were out wildfowling on an estuary one night. It’s pretty bloody scary stuff, specially when you’re weighed down with gear.

I don’t know what you guys are laughing about. It was a successful beach landing which met its three main objectives completely: (1) land on the beach (2) secure the beachhead (3) move inland and pursue the enemy

It may have taken a little longer than anticipated and been a little more difficult than expected but it was nonetheless a complete success.

Well, when faced with a similar situation, I put those little ziploc bags over my shoes and made it through unsullied. You might consider keeping a box of them around for just such a purpose. If you are lacking protection of other kinds they also come in handy…
