The GOP's House of Representatives Thread

OK, if you say so. A bit thin for spin. I’m sure the GOP will think it’s yuge.

No spin, just facts. Oh, I’m sure the politicos are taking notes, that’s what they do.

OK, let’s see the rules. Enough of the bluster.

Got to be in it, legally, to win it.

The No Rogue Rulings Act would prevent U.S. district courts from providing injunctive relief, except to limit the actions of a party to the case or those they are representing.

Axios: Rep. Mary Miller faces bipartisan fury over “ignorant” Sikh comment

Rep. Mary Miller (R-Ill.) is coming under fire from colleagues in both parties after misidentifying a Sikh man as Muslim and saying he should have “never been allowed” to deliver the House’s morning prayer.

So am I. As voting is a right the Feds should offer free, easily available photo ID to all citizens.

Not this RealID crap where you need a copy of your birth certificate, Social Security card, driver’s license, plus two forms showing proof of residency like an electric bill or bank statement. It’s not onerous but a lot of people might not be able to easily attain all of those, particularly birth certificates.

And also paid time off to sort the certificates during business hours, and to vote

All legal citizens.

It’s certainly onerous for some - like someone that’s homeless as an easy example - that’s the rub with most of these thing - they make it harder for people who are more marginalized, while seeming to make total sense as a non issue to those who aren’t. In Georgia, they just started requiring the homeless w/o a permanent address to receive their election related mail at the county registrar’s office (before you could choose someplace more convenient, like a homeless shelter, religious center, post office general delivery, etc).

Bump for more on the SAVE Act.

I guess the REAL ID thing is racist too then, right?

>Americans also overwhelmingly support having a voter ID requirement. According to a 2025 Pew Research Center survey, 83% of Americans support showing a government-issued photo identification to vote. That includes 95% of Republicans and 71% of Democrats. Puzzlingly, that broad support hasn’t stopped Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, from saying some inflammatory things about the legislation. During an interview with MS NOW, when asked about the popularity of voter ID, even among Democrats, Schumer said this: “It’s Jim Crow 2.0. … This is vicious and nasty. And I said to our Republican colleagues, it will not pass the Senate. You will not get a single Democratic vote in the Senate.”

Eye patch Dan is out. Primaried.
