āWell we put down the money and I picked up the keys
We had to keep the stove on all night long so the mice wouldnāt freeze
We put our names on the the mailbox
And we put everything else in the past
It was the first place we had to ourselves
We didnāt know it would be the lastā

Lardy, boring Scouser! My dad would sing this when he was pissed. JL lost his sense of humour and humility without the Beatles. Completely indicative of the famous Scouse victim mentality! The tithead had a temperature and humidity-controlled suite to keep his and his mad wifeās fur coats in, when he wrote this.
At least Paul knew heād becometragic.

Nice!
Speaking of Bowie, my favourite:
David Bowie - Heroes (1977)
And a wonderful cover by Blondie:
AYE am the biggest Neil Young fan in the world, and AYE think this is his most beautiful song.
Buffalo Springfield - Expecting to fly (1966)
Good God, Presley! How did you forget this one? The divine Sheila Chandra.
Sheila Chandra - Ever So Lonely
And the original Monsoon version (1982):
āThe ocean refuses no riverā¦ā
Quintessential punk pop:
The 101ers: Keys to Your Heart
Wire: 12XU
The Cure: Killing an Arab and the same track, live
and less beautiful but still qunitessential punk pop:
Dead Kennedys: Nazi Punks, Fuck Off
Great topicā¦
Forgive me if this has already been posted, as I didnāt go thru the threadā¦
In IMO the entire Cure albumāDisintegration
Wow. Killing An Arab. My favourite Camus song!
Not a song, but a beautiful piece of music:
Phillip Glass - Glassworks Ending (1982)
I have no idea what most of you whippersnappers are talking about.
As we approach the Lunar New Year and have to endure the torture that is repeated hearing of CNY songs, itās hard not to compare them unfavorably with Christmas carols, many of which are among the most beautiful songs ever written, with āSilent Nightā probably at the top.
Of course, compared with CNY songs even Metal Machine Music might sound good.
Speaking of The Cure, this oneās rather pretty:
The Cure - Charlotte Sometimes (1981)
