'the Netflix of food ordering' might work well in Taiwan

What do think of this (read the news story), with many mobile food carts now on weekend pop up markets and night market, much is made at home. Might work well in Taiwan. Uber/Panada is mostly from fixed places.

Good idea but am I the only one that doesn’t trust other people’s cooking? :joy:

I’m sure the kitchen would be cleaner than most restaurants.

Or you don’t trust the quality/taste?

I like the idea of ordering from different cooks in one delivery. This is something we struggle with since everyone wants something different. Sometimes Just Kitchen here is able to mix different items, but doing it across different restaurants/food trucks/cooks would be great.

The other thing we miss the most here are the meal delivery services you cook yourself. It’s overall cheaper, you have fresh ingredients, and learn how to cook all different kinds of dishes on your own.

Is getting cold food not a problem?

From Just Kitchen? Not that I’ve noticed, but it’s not the same thing as picking up from multiple restaurants. I just meant their menus have more variety I think because they collaborate with different restaurants. It’s not at the level of the what the article is talking about though.

Yeah, Just Kitchen have ghost kitchens making meals for several restaurants.

Anyways, cooking at home while you WFH is ideal to get your food paid for, free meal. And making money from the ‘day job’.

Well then this service may not work for you (if you like your own cooking), but for others that like takeaway food (who do not want to cook)it may work with more options.

The point being that many restaurants are not exactly following food safety standards to the letter.

Home cooks are? Do home cooks get inspections? In case of food poisoning who do you complain too?

From the story : Before home chefs are accepted by Woodspoon they have to show proof of food safety training, and the company sends someone out to carry out an inspection of their kitchen.

The chefs also have to register their business with the relevant local authority, and be subjected to official food hygiene tests.

While Woodspoon is currently focused on US expansion the concept could also work in the UK, where it is also legal to run a food business from a residential property.

You can sell Belgian food !

You are right. Restaurants in Taiwan all follow the highest standards of hygiene. They are continually inspected. You just need to worry about the home cooks.

This is true. The web site has checks and reviews of home chefs, not sure many restaurants have health checks done by uber.

If you are operating as a restaurant business, then health checks should be handled by the government.

Both gov and private check would be nice. With that, someday hope this works in TW
