The Overdue FBI Thread

  • The FBI warned people to avoid using free phone-charging stations found in hotels, airports, and other public places.
  • Hackers can insert malware or monitoring software into phones through charging ports, the agency said.
  • A Los Angeles deputy district attorney once warned that “a free charge could end up draining your bank account.”

It’s not really an FBI thread, is it? It’s an FBI advice thread.

I have an inkling it will expand to include other topics.

Just to put this out there and also let them know we know they are out there, here’s the homepage

https://www.fbi.gov/news

This sounds like rich people’s scavenger hunts:

https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/fbi-launches-stolen-art-app

“One of the biggest evolutions for NSAF was making it publicly available,” said Colleen Childers of the FBI’s Art Crime Program. “Now, with the new mobile upgrade that we’ve undergone, we want to continue to push to make it a more user-friendly platform.”

While the app was primarily created with law enforcement and art-industry partners in mind, anyone can use it to verify that art or antiquities they own or are looking to buy aren’t actually stolen property.

Or it’s a dinner party app.

Well I always bring my own charger and a power bank. I’ve never used a charger at an airport.

JD…read the wind man. This is the closest thing to a Forumosa Rick Roll…people clicked on this thread expecting the standard FBI shit talk they have come to expect from this place. Maybe a hot new Twitter Files addition or sth (RIP Taibbi, Musk used him like a pawn surprise).

Lo and behold you actually reminded them that the FBI can be good at times – and pretty consistently better than the comparative agencies of Russia and China. You sly dog you!

I’m looking at their blog now. They’re putting away some bad hombres, and a school nurse for kiddy porn. And their underwater search and evidence scuba team is vicious!

They keep busy:

FBI Violent Crime, Transnational Organized Crime Operations Yield Multiple Arrests, Drug Seizures
During the week of March 20, the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division oversaw three large operations across the nation that resulted in a total of 44 federal arrests and 25 state arrests.

  • These operations originated from investigations in support of the FBI’s Violent Crime and Transnational Organized Crime programs.
  • Twenty-five search warrants were also executed as part of these efforts. This resulted in the seizure of 11 kilograms fentanyl pills, 1 kilogram of fentanyl powder, 3 kilograms of heroin, 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2 kilograms of Xanax, 500 grams of cocaine, 183 firearms (137 rifles and 46 handguns) and $330,886 USD.

Just use an electrical outlet and your own charger. I doubt you can plug malware into electrical outlets (there are networking devices that use electrical system to transmit data, but they require special hardware for both sending and receiving data).

Most of their videos are recruitment type things.

Join the FBI! Blackmail politicians! Run the country! Rule the world!

I was told never to plug my phone into a USB port for the reasons stated probably at least a decade ago. But I’m glad the FBI is issuing this warning now. Better late than never!

FBI for the win!

Where is the long over due “CIA” thread ?

speaking of which, I think the CIA is keeping tabs on me.

It’s intermingled with the Ukraine’s, Russia, China and Taiwan political threads.

As Mr. NSA Snow Den pointed out some years ago, the US gov’t (allegedly?) can and does use technology to tap into every single email and phone call made in America in search of extremists, and they do so with or without permission…

…So, is it a tad ironic that the FBI is warning folks about being compromised by hackers – somewhere out there?

Perhaps they have finally stopped mandatory lie detector tests and drug testing for the men and women staked out in those late model Chevies?

I really think a lot of you would sell out to get a job with the CIA, for example. Cuz it comes with plenty of perks: free fake IDs, front company sales rep positions, plus free luxury hotel suites… free ladies who can even sometimes play tennis …free cars, big salary… Etc, etc, etc… Cushy shysters…
