The point here being you had a choice.
And I’m going to have to disagree with everyone who says Taiwan’s not in a state of chaos. Mind you, I mean the whole place is chaotic, not specifically politically. 
You are so right as usual ac_dropout, those other places don’t have fake assassination (attempts)…they have real ones…so what’s your point? Taiwan elections are still ‘tame’ compared to these other places.
