The Portuguese community in Taiwan kindly asks for your help

Do you know any Portuguese people in Taiwan? We need your help.

The Portuguese community in Taiwan is starting to organize itself, and our first big step should be to create an official association to represent us before the Taiwanese government.

That’s where things get a bit tricky, and that’s why we need some help. We need a minimum of thirty members to start this organization and, after going through the people that are already connected and know each other, we are now short a few members to get started.

We need people who have Portuguese citizenship and official residency here in Taiwan, be it students, international workers, or foreign spouses.

If you know anyone who fits this profile, I ask you to be so kind as to ask them to reach out or even comment on this post, so we can talk about it. At this point, we are not asking for people to become active members, although that would be nice too. We really just need some more members to make sure we have the legal minimum to start an official association.

Best regards

if you are trying to organise as a People Organisation (人民團體) which can be either a Chamber of Commerce or a Residents Association (we Italians did the Chamber last year), you do not necessarily need 30 members per se, but 30 Proposers who support the establishment, which depending on how you want to set up the association (nationally or locally under a local government authority) must either simply be resident in TW (if nationally) or locally (if under a local government authority). These proposers do not need to be Portoguese tbh nor have any obligation to join as official members once the association is established and authorised, you simply need to get their signatures and ID copies to submit to the competent authority to get the authorisation to have the first AGM to then officially sanction the establishment of such association.

I’ll do it for a box of Macanese egg tarts

I want my freedom, my rights, my will, and in my tired eyes, only red flags burn! https://youtu.be/BL5Kcl7FbX8?list=RDBL5Kcl7FbX8

This is actually quite interesting. I will relay this information to my people and see what they have to say about it.
