The Post-election Blues

  1. The spoiled ballots are due to a campaign led by a group of organisations disatisfied with both the Pan-Green and the Pan-Blue vision for Taiwan.

  2. Lien Chan and James Soong are bitching about the “unfairness” of the election results. Was it not James Soong who played a central role in the suppression of dissidents during the 1970s and 1980s? Was it not Lien Chan who urged a violent reaction to the results of election? Was it not a Pan-Blue-controlled legislature that passed a referendum law unfair to Chen in that its provisions allowed them to force any of Chen’s referenda to fail by simply not voting for them?

  3. Was it not the Kuomintang that slaughtered thousands of Hoklo, Aboriginals, and Hakka when they fled to Taiwan at the end of the Civil War?

Unfair indeed.

By the way, am I the only one shocked that Chen was able to win the election with only 55% of the vote in Southern Taiwan? Weren’t all the pundits saying that he’d 60 there to stand a chance in Hell?

With all due the respect to the pundits, most of them probably couldn’t find their feet without a map.

Why start a new thread for this?

Because Juba you need to hear the message many times.

Don’t waste your time on Juba, and his crappy bike, he’s just trying to stir things up. Nu democratic-minded person could seriously posess those convinctions anyways.
