So converting from Shanon’s usual prices that would be equivalent to one drink anywhere else?
Sigh…says it all really…

What does ‘slaite’ mean? If it was supposed to be ‘slate’ I still don’t know what it means. Someone explain please!
Slaite is supposed to be “slainte,” which is Erse for “cheers.” If the Shannon was a real Irish pub, the poster would have known that, but since its a “MacIrish” (with the shamrock-green arches), what do you expect?
GEE!! Slainte, Slainte Slainte!!!
Look at the positive side…it gave you something to whinge about!

This is a really tough crowd…
Those Shannon cover bands are so crap!
Why would you even advertise them?
In fact, the whole scene at Shannon is appallingly retro, but NOT in a good way. How Irish is a cheesy Miami Beach sports bar anyway? Not very.

Two chuckles off Forumosa already and its only 1:30.
…and am I correct in assuming that ALL you guys have VIP memberships into such up market establishments such as Roxy Vibe, 45, Spin etc???
Interesting contrasting how the Shannon and Carnegies management handle criticism on this board…
Captain Shannon - instead of being rude why dont you take on board the criticisms and perhaps investigate and do something about them? Rather than imply other places are low class and those who arent impresed with the Shannon are automatically regulars at said establishments.
No, I dont visit Carnegies, nor Roxy, nor Spin.
Sage advice there, from AWOL.
I have a VIP card for Carnegies… because its a great place to relax on any afternoon. Its that way because management listens to criticisms and does what he can to remedey any problems.
Ha! As if…It’s not 1993 any more.
My friends and I are your contemporaries. We’re mature professionals.
Shannon is TOO LOUD. The waiters are surly. The live music is miserably bad. I can’t eat most of that stodge on your menu as you have few options for vegetarians or non-sausage eaters. The clientele is a bit sad too.
I’ve only been forced into going there due to other friend’s parties (or wakes). I would never choose to go there myself.
Mainly because of the awful awful awful LOUD awful cover bands and the surly waiters.
Give me Carnegie any day (for the “Florida” experience and food).
Agree with the comments about the bands (too loud), have raised this issue to the floor manager before but to no avail.
As well the new bands do suck, thus I have been avoiding the place more or less recently. The last time I went I was just looking forward for them to take a brake.
I do like the food though and consider the prices ok, but the snacks may need some improvement, e.g. the basket of Calamari should be filled with Calamari all the way and not a cup upside-down at the bottom and some Calamari on top.
Free-flow of soft drinks is a bonus though.
Is Abe still drumming there? I played with him at Tu years back and he was smoother than hot shit sliding off a shovel. Really nice guy, too.
tragic to see that bar owners and managers need/try to use forumosa for some free advertising and/or to talk bad about their competition.
I’m happy to see it. It’s interesting to note the flow of conversation going on in the Carnegie’s thread, the Citizen Cain thread, the Alleycat’s thread and the Shannon thread. As far as talking down the competition goes, I haven’t seen a lot of it on these boards. I think that people would see right through it, and the negativity would backfire on the original poster…

And THAT’S about as subtle as a two-foot dildo on a leprechaun.
Being patronised by the Shannon ! Ho Ho Ho ! You may patronise me but I shan’t patronise you ! Goodbye !
yes abe’s still playing there…aka the kenyatta trio…but it’s a pretty tired set they be doing…how many times do you really need to hear no woman no cry covered in one life time?
shannon’s not as bad as people make out but the fact that the gaelic lads have shifted to the brass monkey tells me that all can’t be well
