The top 10 Beatles songs of all time are

My list of favorite Beatles songs often shifts and changes but there are a few that are constantly at the top for me…I’ll try to narrow it down to 10.

Blackbird
Across the Universe
When I’m Sixty-Four
Yesterday
Revolution No. 9
If I Fell
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Hey Jude
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away

I can’t rank them in a certain order because I can’t make up my mind, although I think the first five I’ve listed could easily be justified for being the top song.

In no order…

Happiness is a Warm Gun
In My Life
A Day in the Life
Strawberry Fields
Penny Lane
The medley on Side 2 of Abbey Road
We Can Work It Out
She Said She Said
Revolution
Helter Skelter

[quote=“ImaniOU”]Revolution No. 9

You’re insane.

Number 9 isn’t a song. There’s no melody. It was early ‘fuckin around the studio’ stuff.

Drive My Car
I Will
Don’t Pass Me By
I Wanna Hold Your Hand
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Martha My Dear
Revolution
Why Don’t We Do in the Road
Eleanor Rigby
Get Back

[thanks, mo! …on behalf of the group I hope we passed the audition.]

Rocky Raccoon
Lucy in the Sky
A day in the life
Eleanor Rigby
Blackbird
abbey road side 2, mean mr mustard to the end
yer blues
with a little help from my friends
got to get you into my life
i am the walrus

What a terrible thread
Wow, these guys may have just about have been the most talented musicians that ever lived.
My picks:

Blackbird
Let it be
The long and winding road
Fool on the hill
Come together
Penny Lane
Something
The two of us

Thanks for helping to release all these lyrics back into my brain  Each song title I type brings a song back to me.
Terrific thread!

TAXMAN

oh yeah, and “Help”

I can’t believe that no one has even mentioned my favorite on their list:
And I Love Her.

…I give her all my love
That’s all I do
And if you saw my love
You’d love her too
I love her…

Black cloud 'cross my mind
Blue mist round my soul

Yeaheaheah wanna die
If I ain’t dead already
Girl you know the reason why

hey, I forgot that you can dl these things… not that I would or anything  hey I bought them once, that should be enough

Speaking of the beatles, anyone heard Let it Be “Naked” yet? If so, is it better than the original? The Spector arrangements are really starting to bother me …

Thanks!

You forgot a classic: “You’ve got to hide your love away.”

Does “My Sweet Lord” count?

AKA “You’ve Got To Hide the Fact That You’re Gay”

John wrote the song about Brian Epstein (their manager) and his unrequited crush on him

A Day in the Life
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
I Saw Her Standing There
A Hard Day’s Night
Help
Something
Here Comes the Sun
Across the Universe
Hey Jude
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

Hey - three of them were written by George Harrison.

nice one!

No I didn’t. And my bad. I meant Revolution. Not #9. Since I said a top ten, here’s my other top 10 (meaning songs 11-20 if I could have included them with the original 10):

Honey Pie

In My Life (song of my high school graduating class and still brings tears to my eyes even though I wasn’t really fond of high school)

You Never Give Me Your Money-Sun King-Mean Mr. Mustard-Polythene Pam-She Came in Through the Bathroom Window-Golden Slumbers-Carry That Weight-The End

Girl (you can feel the longing with the sigh)

The Long and Winding Road

Because

Two of Us

Michelle

Paperback Writer

Something (what a moving piece and I love the bass line)

It’s obvious that I’m a fan of their later albums more than their earlier stuff. The first CD I ever bought, even before my family had a CD player was Abbey Road ($13 at a swap meet). I had some pictures of me crossing Abbey Road in London but some douchebag stole my backpack which had that camera in it so now I don’t. :fume:

I wonder who my favourite beatle was…
Don’t let me down
I’m only sleeping
I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
Tomorrow Never Knows
Something
Come Together
She Said, She Said
In My Life
The Ballad of John and Yoko
Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except…

One song from my favourite album the white album!

Regarding Let it be naked read this review. It’s spot on. As a Beatles fan I’d definately buy it. But for me many of the live studio bootlegs sound better. (which you can find on Kazaa)

In the End is cool, with John Paul and George Soloing, although John was never a great lead player.

How about While My Guitar Gently Weeps from the Anthology album
More stirring than the one with Eric Clapton
