Trump says âif anything,â he forced Israelâs hand on Iran strikes
President Trump on Tuesday said he âmightâ have forced Israelâs hand to strike Iran first, saying his opinion was that the Islamic Republic was going to launch a military strike first.
âIt was my opinion that they were going to attack first,â Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday, sitting next to Germanyâs Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Earlier, Trump said âI might have forced their hand,â referring to Israel.
The presidentâs remarks contradicted an account by Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Israel was the one that decided to attack Iran and that dictated Trumpâs decision. Rubio said the U.S. made the decision to join the strikes alongside Israel rather than join the fight after likely Iranian retaliatory strikes.
But senior administration officials told Republican and Democratic lawmakers at a classified briefing on Capitol Hill on Monday that the Israeli plan to strike Iran pushed the United States to take preemptive action to protect U.S. troops stationed at bases throughout the Middle East, whom the Pentagon believed would have been targeted by retaliatory strikes.

One thing missing is that republicans in congress refuse to call this a war, even as their president calls it one. Anyways, if the Iranians manage to orchestrate an attack on US soil, canât just blame the dumpster. Although he is responsible for the war and the composition of his administration, he is just giving his voters what they wanted.
