It’s strange, as environmental solutions are big business. Lots of Companies and individuals have made heaps of cash on EVs, wind, Solar, hydro, recycling etc. Huge business potential as most Republicans would agree
That’s all true and I agree. But what irks me most is that America will lose out on those industries where we did much of the R&D because of stupidity. I mean we lost TV manufacturing to Japan in the 80s and thereabouts fair and square. They just out-hustled and outsmarted us. Now here we are about ready to lose to China in the areas of EVs and alternative energy technologies purely because we decided not to try anymore. Musk is right to criticize the BBB as turning its back on the future (or whatever it was he said). Idiotic. And Trump is leading us all in this really stupid direction.

Why isn’t there more outrage about this?
In most other countries in the world, if there were floods that led to 78 dead, many more missing including 25 children, there would be absolute outrage about the funding cuts to the centers with the purpose to accurately predict these sort of weather events.
But America just shrugs its shoulders and doesn’t care.

What about “friendly” Canada? Try walking into a hospital there without status and see how far you get, let alone apply for government benefits.

You can’t compare America’s immigration laws to Canada’s and Taiwan’s because that’s comparing apples to oranges.

Apparently what it means is because the US has had open borders for decades and Canada and Taiwan haven’t that illegal immigrants now have the legal right to stay in the US under the doctrine of adverse possession:

I guess a lot of people are either burnt out after the last 6 months, or in the cult.
Apples and oranges are both fruit, but they are different fruit, so obviously there are going to be differences. This is what is called “idiomatic” language.
I think the world is burnt out at the sight of mountains of dead bodies of kids after two years that it just shrugs its shoulders at the sight of a few dozen more.
Ah, got it, so because America’s had a broken system for decades, the solution is to just keep marinating in it, like a garbage bin you forgot to take out… and now it’s part of the decor.

Sheesh, what does the phrase “in charge of” connotate anyways? Sounds extremely sketchy.
Don’t let them spin it away from this reality – huge cuts to our disaster preparedness definitely impacted this event negatively, and they will inevitably negatively impact future events.
It is pathetic to myself and many others that the above ^ statement is considered political.
