The Trump Presidency 2.0

Again, where’s the line MAGA?

Well, he officially knows what he’s not supposed to be doing. That’s a start, and perhaps a step up from your average Trump appointee.

Thats A Resistor,
not The Resister.
So its just A Distraction
not The Distraction.

Has there been much in the mainstream media (which I’m not very up on) about the massive potential for corruption here?

There is of course a lot of info ont Nyet about Trumps historical corrupt conflicts of interest, but this (The personal Presidential direction of foreign investments negotiated as part of tariff mitigation deals) seems to have the potential to dwarf those, and create a distorting dynastic concentration of wealth denting/destroying democratic decency long after his death.

Quick FireFoxtrot didn’t find much…

Old News: How quaint and quiet the concerns were back then.

Again, old news, relating to the first term, though it would support current concern and certainly should have been a warning

This The Corruption Trump In Investment Arbitration looked to have potential but it seems to be a fairly deep dive into case law and using “trump” as a word rather than as a name (Hmm…legal defence basis there?)

https://jusmundi.com/en/document/publication/en-the-corruption-trump-in-investment-arbitration

Is it being discussed, or are the media keeping mum because of maybe being sued into oblivion?

She was just having a bad hair. Happens to the best of us. Let he who has not drunk posted cast the first stone.

Yep. That plus billionaires buying media. Aside from demanding oversight/approval from embedded monitors, meaning Trump administration has a say in what the news reports, among other things.

How else would the shooting of a state rep go under the radar so fast? A city councillor on fire? Not to mention certain unmentionables related to that E case.

Welcome to the third world.

Even a simple rebuke such as this could get them the “Don’t worship me blindly? Then I will primary you!” threat from Dear Leader.

This is not normal.

A pretty good impression

It is now.

I really should have said. “This is not supposed to be normal in a first world country”.

Buckle up buckaroos. Most of our readers here know that this kind of behavior has always led to future trouble.

Pretty sure I read somewhere (cant remember where though) that the downward revision that prompted Trumps action was widely anticipated and had already been discounted by the markets, (though I suppose they might react to Trumps action which is itself economic bad news).

I suppose Trump MIGHT have access to independent expertise that could determine that there was something wrong with the data, but not so quickly, so it seems very likely it was his standard trademark kneejerk BS

Until we have a system that centers worker power, nationalises key industries, and stops letting Wall Street dictate public policy, we’ll keep cycling through reactionary clowns like Trump.

https://www.axios.com/2025/08/04/israel-west-bank-gaza-speaker-johnson-visit

Trip officially booked for Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to visit a settlement in the West Bank.

Just in case anyone had any doubts that certain factions of Congress aren’t still head-over-heels smitten with Zionists.

A Speaker visit would be setting a record for the highest ranking US official to visit a settlement.

Disagree.

While the systemic changes you anticipate would be nice, I’m not conviced that in its absence there will be a steady supply of reactionary clowns like Trump.

I think Trump is one of a kind, unique in his awfullness and not at all funny, but there is a risk that he creates the conditions for the permanent installation of more banally evil bastards.

The context of the time was high inflation due to an OPEC price shock, and the Iranian Embassy Hostage Crisis. As a debating point it was pretty effective, especially as it was structured as the last word in the debate.

Trump rather unoriginally used the same line before the last election, exploiting the high post Covid inflation figures, despite the US economy being in better shape than anyone elses at the time.

Heres Reagans questions. I doubt anyone in the Trump administration would want to hear the answers right now.

Who thought Goldwater was a fortune teller.

Depends what you mean by “fire”. He could shoot some of them, as in Friendly Fire, but that’d be a bit extreme, and noticable.

He could just subvert democracy, through misinformation and vote rigging, for example, or simply disregard the results of the next elections, as attempted for the last ones he lost, essentially “firing” the electorate from the democratic process.

Eh wasn’t there some kind of accord regarding nuclear stuff in space and like, isn’t the moon in space?

Can’t feed people here, won’t listen to science, wants to disconnect weather and carbon detection satellites but needs to conquer the moon and Mars?!:noway:

At least they recognize fossil fuels won’t get them that far but there’s a reason why scientists are developing the plasma engine.:wall:
