The typical Taiwanese male driver: Is he, or is he not

The Taiwanese male driver (random)

  • Is indeed aggressive and rude
  • Is not worse than the average guy in my hometown

…one of the most aggressive mobile species around this part of the world behaving extremely rude on the streets?

Koreans drive rather bad, Thai drivers are poorly OK, Hong-Kongnese drivers are polite (ye former British Empire with Gentlemen approach )

BUT I would like to know what you find about the “average” Taiwanese driver in the small poll question

EVERYONE’S a crap driver except for me and you … and I sometimes wonder about you.

Hu ? I drove rather offensive in Europe, but learned in 8 weeks to drive deffensive here, though it pisses me off when those guys “close the door” in front of a roadblock for example. :fume:

It does not fit with what they think about themselves… They claim to be nice and friendly, but once in their car, another story starts.

We even have a guy in the company which his father gave him the name of Shumacher… :s Guess he has to defend his given name on the road either…

Why male driver? Are Taiwanese female drivers a paragon of virtue behind the wheel?

Nope, they are not, in fact most of them are to afraid to drive I guess…

When the windows of the vehicle are not darkened too much, I see 97% male drivers behind the steering wheel at least…

Seems to be that majority of votes is heading to my thoughts.

Raise the fines for Traffic violations dear Mr. Government…

When I was in Japan we took the tour bus through Tokyo on Saturday evening. There was a lot of traffic and we were waiting in a long line for the exit off the freeway. One single line, because it was one lane. And I thought if this was Taiwan there would be all the cab drivers and many of the other drivers all bunched up at the front trying to butt fuck their way into the line.
So my answer is yes, Taiwan drivers are rude, inconsiderate assholes.

Yeah, Japan was educated that way even before WW2 when all Japanese wanted to look British style… Polite gentlemen indeed.

But the contraversy here is shocking.
For what I see, Taiwanese THINk they are different from Chinese, but they are simply not…

Heard a comedian once who said, “You know what my definition of “asshole” is? Everyone on the road except me!”

I have been passanger with numrous drivers here, not including taxi drivers, and I find most of them to be pretty normal in their traffic behaviour. I am probably more aggressive than most of them. It’s not always rudeness and aggressivness is connected - I am not rude in traffic.

Drivers are not the problem, as they DRIVE a customer to and from and propably feel responsible.
Taxi drivers are worse
Old car own driver are more worse
Blue Van drivers should be banned from this planet.
