crickets
I never understood that from a historical perspective, not that I think the Kennedy’s are bright in any sense. They are nouveau riche folks trying to act like they arrived on the Mayflower. ![]()
What I don’ understand is their Irish roots. Fitzgerald, Country Wexford. It’s Hiberno-Norman in its etymology. Quite the fucking posturing by trying to be bog-Irish. Or trying to be Mayflower stock. They should be Fine Gael supporters, not playing upon the South Boston emotional shartimus with IRA/Sinn Fein.
…. Peasants! ![]()
It’s ok they have no Somalia connection
That’s right @TT, no other Americans ever commit crimes! Glad that’s sorted, we won’t need to be looking at any of the other groups anymore who are all saints. Just keep asking questions about the Somalis who are all criminals by nature.
People said that about the Mafia and Italians and loads of other stuff. It’s always been un-American bullshit; we’re a nation of immigrants. This too will go by the wayside. The American way is to find the people who commit the crimes.
However I stopped after the guy joked about sending your kids to Somali run daycares because where else are you gonna learn how to knife someone?
I didn’t like that either.
Whoa, missed that one. Will look it up
To me this is on Tim Waltz.
I don’t know if he knew or did not know about the fraud, at what level, and if there was any cover up. I’ll wait for the investigation to clear that up.
But he basically made it extremely easy for this type of fraud to happen. It basically is a self verification system with almost no pre funding verification and faster approvals with very few oversight.
I get the intent being a positive one but it was incredibly dumb to move to a payout first quickly and maybe check later system.
He should resign. In business if I made fraud extremely easy like this and my employees committed fraud from it, even if I didn’t know. Saying I didn’t know would not fly. He’s the governor, responsibility flows up.
But this is politics and political cushioning saves incompetence like this sometimes. At the very best, he will be voted out probably unless they find evidence that he’s criminally liable.
Just keep asking questions about the Somalis who are all criminals by nature.
No one said no other groups or people weren’t being investigated. You see to be more bothered by how the situation is being framed. Clearly the Somalis are up to something. Someone in their own community it seems is taking advantage of them. Sort it out.
But theboohooing about using the rights words to describe what’s happening is a sideshow for the virtuous at the expense of the victims, in this case the taxpayer, of which the Somalis are certainly a part.
I just saw this clip make the rounds.
Again to me this is on him. Not some democrats bad or all Somalis bad. I do have concerns have how the Somali community there doesn’t seem to have integrated well in some aspects but not all of them are obviously committing massive fraud. Making sure the ones that are get prosecuted to the full extent of the law should send the right message.
I just know business. And you don’t survive as a CEO there’s a clip of you bragging about making it easier for the fraud to happen.
“I didn’t know” or worse “I didn’t understand or underestimated the risk” is the end even if there’s no criminal liability.
In business if I made fraud extremely easy like this and my employees committed fraud from it, even if I didn’t know. Saying I didn’t know would not fly.
Like this doesn’t happen in business? - and execs generally end up essentially rewarded for it. See Rick Scott case above. Gaetz’s dad’s company was involved in major health fraud in FL as well.
I do have concerns have how the Somali community there doesn’t seem to have integrated well in some aspects
Says people about basically every immigrant group in America at some point .
I’m comfortable with my position on Tim Walz being responsible for making massive fraud easy in the state he governs.
Exactly, when an entire community is being demonized I’m bothered by that. It was wrong before and it’s wrong now. Find the people who committed the crimes.
To me this is on Tim Waltz.
Of course, but Walz is just the lead huckster there. The real fault lies within Minnesota’s DFL Party. Walz is just the (mostly titular) head of it.
Minnesota is one of the wealthier states in the Midwest due to its rich, river-bottom soil and plenty of fresh water and, in the past century+, the decision by major insurance companies (esp UHG) to situate in the Minneapolis/SP area. Madison, WI, is a similar hub of midwestern insurance and banking companies with headquarters there.
The real problem is that the DFL is willing to trade real oversight of Minnesota’s Somali immigrant assimilation for pleasing their wealthy-farmer/insurance-and-banking coalition behind the DFL by making its mostly white, wealthy adherents feel just the right amount of guilt for doing well financially. Shepherding Somali immigrants into the civic body of the US, responsibly, feels too much like racism to the DFL so no thanks, no can do.
The only silver lining to the cloud over Minnesota is that it’s beginning to look like Walz may become the poster child for the kind of goofy, nonsensical self-hate by whites that has powered the Democrat party at its margins since at least 2012.
Federal prosecutors announced earlier this month that they were significantly broadening an investigation into fraud in the North Star State, charging an additional six people in the schemes, bringing the total number of people charged to 92.
All but eight of the 86 people previously charged in connection to the fraud are of Somali ancestry, the New York Times has reported, citing prosecutors. A “vast majority” are Americans citizens, the outlet said.
Wow 92 out of 100,000 Somali Americans. What is wrong with these people! We need to demonize them all, put them to the question en masse, and better yet join our fascist administration in shitting on all immigrants. Well, you know, some of them anyway. Maybe we should also start posting all the stories about various groups involved in fraud schemes and make sure those groups are also suitably chastised.
Well, you know, some of them anyway.
Welcome to America, Somali immigrants. First generation will have it tough and will suffer, but if you lean into the culture and play your cards right your kids and their kids will be doctors, lawyers, executives, politicians with a shot at real power.
Self police effectively, watch your step, dot your i’s and cross your t’s - or be ostracized and see the generations that follow struggle way more than necessary.
Been the American way for generations. We’ve done pretty well by it.
Find the people who committed the crimes.
Ok, then you do see that anyone connected with these fake daycares also needs to be investigated, right? Payoffs and kickbacks were part of the scam. You’re not not guilty of taking kickbacks if you took them. Not a lot of non Somalis “attending” those centers from what I’ve read. Who was sending money back to Somalia? Where did that money come from especially if the senders were not employed? Let’s check that out too.
$9 billion of fraud runs deep. The feds and state agencies shouldn’t give a pass to co-conspirators. Time for PLTR to crunch some more numbers, I suppose.
$9 billion
That number hasn’t been demonstrated and is contested. Anyway, yes it should be fully investigated.
