Subsonic works great, too. Aquila Colibri .22LR is about as quiet as slapping a book down on a desk, and will end your rodent problem in about (distance/535fps) seconds.

There are rat poisons that make the critters thirsty, the theory being they’ll leave in search of water before expiring. I’ve no idea how well they work.

wow, I really can’t believe it! I also had the same problem in my office in Linkou. I heard a loud yowling in the ceiling for about two weeks at random moments, the sound resembled a cat, but it didn’t really sound like a cat. However, I have not heard it in awhile. WEIRDDDDDD. Ratlung and I also decided it was a monster. We opened a ceiling tile and I have one of those mosquito racquets next to me in case it decides to pay me a visit.

Yeah, it sounded to me like those brain sucking, body controling thingies that try to jump on your head in half-life 2. Really scary.
