We didn’t stay to eat, but the atmosphere was cool with all the kitties and cats running around. Must have been ten or so I saw. I’m sure I’ll stop in for a drink one day soon. Which reminds me… Their slogan:
喝茶 用餐 玩貓貓
Which I think should translate to: Drink Tea. Eat Food. Play with Pussies.
If anyone’s interested, they have a Banqiao location as well.
Oh wow! I can’t wait to check it out!
Do you think handling strange cats could be dangerous for one’s own cats? Can germs survive that long outside a warm beaver body?
Where is Zhongshan at, Miltownkid?
I know where Fu he, Yong he and Chuling are.
I came across one of those type places in Tainan last year.
Nice folks and a nice litle shop. Lots of cats.
I do not know if its still open. I think they had been in business for 3 -4 years so they may well be.
I walk from my house (which is right behind Dingxi MRT station).
Easy directions are as follows.
Leave Dingxi Exit #1 and turn left. Walk walk walkity walk until you hit a “big” street (the first “big” street is ZhongShan, that little street where Eslite is doesn’t count).
You’ll know you’re at the right place if you see that rost duck place (it’ll be acroos the street from you). Walk toward that roast duck place and keep walking until the address matches the one I posted above (that street you’re walking on is Zhongshan).
I’d like to say it’s a ten minute walk from there, but it’s probably more like 15-20. The same directions will work for scooter .
We live only 10 minutes walk from there, and the wife and I have often thought of stopping in, but… one of the cats has one eye and an empty socket, which made me feel all scary and picture long-haired children crawling out of tvs.
Could ya tell them to give her a patch or something (not the tv kid, the cat)?
Just had to go there; glad to see they seemed well kept and healthy.
Apart from the fact that they allowed smoking I liked it. I didn’t eat anything though, just had some tea. Anyone have any comments or recommendations on the food there? (and I don’t mean the whiskas :p)
YingFan
PS Considering everyone’s previous comments I wonder the sexshop nextdoor has the same owner
i hate cats so i tend to have a bunch of reasons why this place is horrid. cats are one of the most disease ridden animals in the world. having them anywhere near food preparation is a violation of nearly every health and hygiene code in the world (except obviously taiwan).
I went to this cat tea shop in Yung ho about a year and a half ago. I did not have such a good experience.
I was drinking some coffee and trying to enjoy the company of the cats. Not all the cats looked so healthy and well kept as described in an earlier post. One of the cats was visibly sick. I think it might have had cat flu or something similar. It sneezed long green strands of snot all over me. I did not complain or say anything about it but the shop owner or keeper wacked the poor cat through the face and shouted at it. I was shocked and horrified. :fume:
I wanted to give her some of her own medicine and wack her through the face but converted to being a loud foreigner and shouted at her!!! (I also left the name card of my vet.)
For those of you who like these kind of tea or coffee shops, there is another of its kind (friendlier, healthier and cleaner in my opinion) right next to Zhishan MRT station in Tienmu. When you get out of the mrt station, turn right (you will see a 7-11 on the corner) and walk back along the mrt line. Cafe Dog and Cats is one or two shops down from the 7-11.
Interpretations may wary, so actually I kind of appreciated that they didn’t “disqualify” a cat just because it was blind and seemed to have some balance problem; just having cats that look good. After reading Havilinas post though I think I have to change opinion and agree with her to some extent. I didn’t see any direct mistreatment though, but 17 cats in that space was a bit too excessive and the staff seems to be too change too often (completely different set the two times I was there.) Anyone been to the BanQiao one?
I will check that one out soon, as well as the one in ZhiShan just mentioned.
