That was great. Until he started making himself into the meat in a trailer-truck sandwich at 220km, or going through pedestrian crossings at 130…

I very seriously doubt that guy was really doing 270km/h wheelies… Even a 2006 R1 doesn’t have enough grunt to wheelie off the trottle in 4th/5th gear up and down, up and down, like that let alone a 2001 model… kind of indicates that he’s got the most basic of stunters / street biker’s mods, namely a bigger rear sprocket to increase the final drive ratio to get more acceleration / easier wheelies at the cost of top end speed… “but the speedo said 270!..” I hear you say… yep, but on modern bikes the speedo data comes from a sensor off the drive shaft, so if you increase the final drive ratio the engine’s speed has to be that much higher for a given real ground speed and therefore speedo reading is higher than the bike is actually travelling… kind of obvious from the little shit box car he was riding behind cruising along at supposed “230km/h+”…
he’s still an idiot… just not as fast as he looks…
I was kind of surprised that he was doing over 270 at one point but by passing other cars it didn’t really looked like the speed that the odo was showing …

It’s been a few years since I rode liter-plus bikes, but last time I did I honestly couldn’t tell much difference beyond about 230km/h. Everything is such a blur at that point, it doesn’t seem to get any blurrier past there. Maybe that’s just me though.

but I still think he’s changed the final drive ratio those speeds and the ease with which it comes up in 6th gear just don’t look kosher…
On the audio you can hear the whoosh most everytime he lets off the gas, except at really high speed where the wind noise probably justs masks it. Hell, the word ‘R1 turbo’ is there on the youtube page in b&w…

I watched the vid and it didn’t look like he was doing HALF the speed claimed. Just watch the cars, trees and posts along the edge of the road. When his speedo says 200, it looks like he’s doing 100. Tops.
thats what i felt too when i watched the vid and also similar vid on the youtube showing a reported speed of 270kph in a honda S2000. I for one didnt think that car could go that fast?
so i wonder, are we being duped??
Ask the lost sweede what the distance betwen the broken line is on roads over there and calculate it.
