I think I have a nominee for this week’s WTF story award:
Guy
Wow! A real life “Catch Me If You Can” story.
Wasn’t catch me if you can based on a real story?
That’s what I thought until a few hours ago. I was going to say more about the greater achievements of the character in that movie, and there’s a reason I didn’t.
If, like me, you had some kind of respect or admiration for the guy whose tale the movie is based on, you might want to think twice about checking the veracity of his story. Certain details about his actual crimes portray him in a much worse light than the movie. Actually, his life seems to have some slight similarities to Trump: coauthored autobiography that was mostly fictional, movie/TV show further embellishing that fiction, and success apparently mainly based on maintaining that fiction for decades. That is a skill of some kind, but not the kind that the movie seemed to be about. Unless the movie was really Spielberg’s homage to “F for Fake”?
I read the book. It was one helluva fun read, but yeah, you could tell that guy was full of shit.
How do you possibly interpret a text saying rip as a threat?
