Dulan, is that blister beetle larvae? if so i see them in spring, but they may be around other times as well? the adult phase is kind of pretty, black with red head. I find them in groups eating random plants.
And Kea, i know you are going to say you told me so, but i just found 2 scorpions in the mountains this weekend. after some reading seems we do have Liocheles australasiae, which is also asexual.
No, the blister is caused by squishing the adult beetle onto your skin. Also, it’s not an immediate reaction thing, but gradually turns into a rash over the next day or so. Most people wouldn’t even be aware that the beetle was the cause of it.
