Tips for starting a new small bar!

I’m looking into what it takes to start a new small business. My idea would require a liquor license. I’ve acknowledged some important factors: having to find a Taiwanese citizen willing to sign his/her name as a primary partner, and trust from this person. Also, I am trying to assess additional costs such as taxes (what are the taxes for a small establishment in downtown Taichung with a liquor license?). What are the hassles associated with police or gangsters when running a small bar? What other problems have other people encountered when opening a small bar establishment that was not forseen (perhaps due to thier native country experience?). Also, how long are business leases? One year, six months? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
