TMNT - Turtles are back!

I’m 23, when i was was a kid the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon showed up on TV, it was a big hit. It was based on the #1 ever selling american black and white comic with a much grittier tone. They made some live action movies, a live action tv show, and 2 new cartoons and some other comics based off said cartoons.

Now there will be a 3-D animated TMNT movie that seems to be using influences of the original comic as well as some of the ‘for kids’ versions. I think the turtles look pretty good in 3-D and its a good way to present them as ‘realistic’ in some ways but keep them ‘stylistic’ in others. The main problem with the suits is they couldn’t do much martial arts with them on, and with 3-D stuff maybe we can see some robot slicing, and maybe even blood?! I’m not sure the audience they are going for but still… blood would be cool - Leonardo has a sword for a reason folks!

I’m not a fan, but I am impressed that they’ve outperformed most iterations of the franchises they were created to spoof–the Teen Titans, the X-Men, and Daredevil. (Only the X-Men MAY have made more money, and I couldn’t swear to that if we’re also counting toys.)

I wonder if this time round it will keep its real name in the UK instead of changing it to “Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles”.

What a wimp-out THAT was.

I actually have issue #1 of Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (from about 1990) in my brother’s attic back home. Came with a badge of Leonardo, and I still have that too. I wonder how much it’s worth now. In pretty good nick.

Well I went to see TMNT last night and it was good, not GREAT, but solidly good. It was just about what I expected, and actually left space for a possible sequel. Most people will be suprised to find out that the normal baddy we know, Master Shredder, was already defeated prior to the start of the film, the turtles lost their sense of purpose and fell apart. Only a new problem could bring them back together, Pretty cool. I especially liked that Raphael had taken on a sort of super-hero alterego to fight crime on his own.

Makes sense for an island of pirates though.

You must be talking about Britain.

Indeed.

Britain is indeed a great pirating nation. We have no need of drain-dwelling ninjas, mutated or otherwise to keep evil from our great shores. We ARE the evil! Arrr!

So are us Irish like ninjas (but with magical powers)?

Um, fairly unlikely, but I’m not ruling it out, y’know?

I used a Michaelangelo toy as a hood ornament on my car back in the states. I also had a job dressing up as a Turtle to entertain needy children back home. They paid me fifteen dollars an hour to do that. I love the Turtles. :notworthy:

Awesome, did you see the movie yet? Michaelangelo got a job dressign as a ninja turtle too - lol.

I bought 2 seasons of TMNT cartoon and some comics! YAY!
