read the story “To Room Nineteen” for my exam few months ago. didn’t like it so much at the time. last week I read it again and what stick in my mind since then is why the protagonist commited suicide at the end. I remember there was a question my teacher asked “Why does the narrator say the story is a failure of interlligence?From the story, what’s the narrator or the writer’s view toward marriage?”
For me, I think this woman was driven mad, like the women in “Yellow Wall Paper”
Anyways, I passed the exam. just curious what other people who read the story would think? maybe you love literature too…
