First off, as this is my first post here let me say “Hi all” .
I did my best before posting this to search the forum for information but could not find any details about the Taiwan Embassy in Tokyo, all I can find is info on Okinawa.
Has anyone done a visa run to Tokyo before that can offer any advice? I’ve seen this website roc-taiwan.or.jp/ but details on visas for foriegners seems scarce.
Thanks Quarters, I did a Visa run to Hong Kong last time and it was stressful. I found the woman I got int he Visa office was okay, it was taking the plane and train into Hong Kong and trying to get seen before 11am that was the hard thing, was 10:50 when I submitted my application and they let me have it the same day.
I’ll post up my Tokyo experience when I get back. I expect that will be around the 9th of December, 2006.
I just had my girlfriend phone up and get some information for me, here’s what they said:
A visa costs 4400Y and takes 24 hours to process. If you submit the application in the morning you can collect the next morning, submit in the afternoon - collect in the afternoon. They are open from 9am to 11am, and 1pm to 4pm.
She was told that the boss in the Tokyo office is very strict now and they’d be asking me a lot of questions as to why I should stay longer, and that there’s no chance an extendable Visa would be issued.
The phone number for the office is: (+81-3)3280-7800
Make sure you leave with all of the necessary paperwork and whatever! They fucked up on my work permit years ago and I had to take another trip abroad. :fume:
I’m back, with a new extendable visa I registered on a Mandarin course at Kaohsiung Univeristy before I left. It all went smoothly, and I’ve posted a photo-guide on how to get there on my blog -
