Tommy and Tammy’s bay area (and other) adventures

Mrs Tommy wants to trade up I guess?

She got her passport yet? :ponder:

Yeah she hasn’t even seen her TT yet
That’s what I would like ,
Would also get white with brown seats to match her car

Nope no passport yet she hasn’t applied

That looks like your last and maybe only card to play!

What card ? A permanent green card holder does NOT need her spouse to support their citizenship application at all

She doesn’t need me for that at all

And that’s why she will be paying for the application herself
I paid thousands already for the fiancée application and the TWO green card applications

One for the temporary two year green card
And again for the ten year one with open rights for extensions unlimited
Which is the Real Green card

She needed me for the fiancée application
She needed my support for the first green card application but for the second it’s not a must .

We all hold cards.

But I think I got the joker

Well, now’s the time then, have a ‘word’ with the dealer and get the car substituted to the one you want, after you increase the loan amount of course !!

Though your wife is car wise it seems, would soon pick the deception.

Going from 100hp Prius C to 225 hp TT should be enough of a thrill

Going from 100hp Prius C to 610 hp v10 R8
She will surely drive right off the hill

That may indeed be a thrill
But the R8 is not a car payment it’s a mortgage

There is really only two things that matter tommy.

  1. Wife is kept happy.
  2. You have enough income to support her happiness.

Having a wife means decisions are by the committee

She IS the committee

Took the baby home from the dealer on Aug 1 driving through Alameda

She’s ridden the car three times but did not want to drive it yet
Says I can have it for a week and then she is going to take over

She wants to take her time to go over all the features
It has a lot

It’s a dream to drive

The way it feels is awesome
The feel the control the power is nice too

Changed the insurance terms a wee bit to bring the price from 5800 down to 4500 a year for this and the Prius

Sold the Acura for 2500 yesterday

Sad to see the Acura go it was a car I had for near 18 years

But I really had no room to park it and it was needing more and more work

Sold it to a mechanic who can keep it running for a lot less than me

It needs possibly 2k more work done which probably the guy can fix himself for 500 bucks

And it’s all downhill from here as the car is nearing 20 years old and 300k miles

That will help pay the extra Insurance then.

Good luck with the new wheels then, hope you BOTH enjoy the drives. I assume some weekends away are coming up then, an excuse for some driving.

Yes the car got here in time for our planned over night at Reno’s famed hotel the pepper mill which has one of Tammy’s fav restaurants where she wants her bday dinner this month

i’ve gambled at the pepper mill before. a college classmate of mine was from Reno, and that’s where the locals liked to go, or at least he did. but that was decades ago.

The Bimini steakhouse there is one of two restaurants that Tammy wants for birthday dinners

It’s awesome from the food to the service to the presentation

We are going to drive four hours each way just to go there
Staying overnight as the hotel has great heated pools and she’s learning to swim now finally after a few lessons
The scenery is great too after Sacramento

Checking out the neighborhood around our new home
Had Indian the other day at Clay Oven in west portal
Reasonable and not bad Going to try another Indian restaurant there in a few days

Went to Spiazzo Italian in west portal as well
Pricey
Shared one Caesar salad for 13.5
One spaghetti bolonaise for 22
One halibut on Arborio rice risotto for 28
One cafe 4.5
Tea 4.5
Plus tax = 79
Got no change from one Benjamin I had hiding in my wallet

Came by to check out nearby stonestowm mall
It’s all different but not bad
My city sports gym is there with three swimming lanes so I can go there and the wife too

Wholefood and target and trader joe are here
And seems a new small regal cinema

Food court has a Shihlin street food (they copyrighted the name)

I had a chicken and rice bento for 12.5 and and ice tea for 5
Was not bad but expensive at 22 total

That should be a fun test. It’s mean to be very comfortable to drive (hence accusations it’s not a “real” sports car - because it doesn’t handle like one).

Also I assume truck space is generous enough for 2 suitcases with the back seats folded?

How the heck so you memorize the price of everything

That is a bit pricey though, especially compared to TW.

After spending a few days driving the TT I find it to be a much nicer driving car than the cayman, less harsh and yet the feel is really just as responsive

It’s also much less busy than the Bmw Supra and has much better visibility

I think you have to go 911 to seriously beat the TT overall

Sure if the cayman was the same price as the TT it’s a better buy simply because it’s a Porsche and is faster
But it rides rougher and is much noisier

I like the 911 that’s still the Porsche to have

But I always liked the 928 style although I never got to drive or ride in one

Do I like the TT now that I have one ? Yes I do

It’s very similar to the Rsx in ride and performance and feel but better and 20 years more modern
But it too has what I call convex
Steering
In that the car is naturally unstable and doesn’t want to drive in a straight line

You have to keep it in a straight line as it wants to follow undulations

My Telstar was tuned to have what I call
Concave steering in that the car wants to drive straight and you have to nudge it into turns
When you take your hands off the steering wheel
it wants to center

I’m sure there is a scientific name for this

Getting in and out of the TT is easier than the R8

Now that I bought it they decided to keep the TT and the R8 around for at least another year
They keep saying it’s the last but orders keep coming for the two

They are the only two audi with the 4 rings on the hood

I’m sure misus Tommy will soon be loving the TT and the drive to Tahoe will be the first time she’s driven long distance

She wants to take over after Sacramento as the drive to sac is rather boring after concord

I will be mister prius

Still seeing if I can sell it for 18k In which case I will and lease the crosstrek

But we don’t need the crosstrek now that we have a
Car that can go to the snow
