I think the list is “who travel the most”.
- If you look at all the well-educated people around the world, they are well behaved, no matter what country they’re from.
- The list almost coagulates with the amount of tourists from each country…hmm…
- China’s tourists are ill-mannered due to lack of education and frankly, knowledge of the world’s manners for obvious reasons. I doubt it’s because they want to.
- Any drunken people will be ill-mannered, that’s probably why Russians and Brits and French are up there. Otherwise, I bet they’re very nice people
- All I’m saying is, this top 10 list can only be subjective and unable to be objective.
After reading the thread titled I was expecting a list of individuals. 
These pastctwo days I’ve encountered locals in Vancouver complaining “aboot” the tourists. We delay buses, clog traffic, don’t know the way. And this place is overrun by us, it is as bad, almost worse than the ol country. However, from my tours and travels and overheaŗing tour operators, Americsns top the list indeed. Worse than chinese in Taiwan. They even had a comic sketch about their neighbors from the South at one of the shows.
The problem with so many Americans in Canada is they can’t figure out the money. You tell them something is $8 and they say “But what does that mean?” You repeat. It means $8. They respond well how much should I give you. You patiently explain that they have a ten there. Is ten more than eight? Oh I don’t know, they cry. I told you I don’t understand your money.
This happens all the time and I have never seen another group who don’t understand that 8 means 8 anywhere in the world and that a ten dollar bill is enough to pay for eight dollars of service.
Actually, it doesn’t. You have to add that cute little surprise called “tax”.
Hahahah, Muzha Man’s story is great. I can totally imagine my countrymen doing such a thing. “But WE use the dollar, what do YOU use?” I bet similar things happen in Australia.
I am talking about giving people the final bill.
I thought that only happened in the US. (And in Taiwan, but only when dealing with airfares.)
There is plenty of sales tax in most US states too.
I’ve been looking at some of the pictures coming from Bali, the problem does seem worse than Thailand. Is it bad year round?
The places I visit regularly only require about 20-30 minutes for one person to clean up the trash on a 200ft section of beach. I know because I do it pretty much every morning when I’m on vacation so my kids can enjoy a trash free beach all day. Go down the beach and you’ll see tourists happily lying in the trash.
Priorities people.
I think this is really true. Countries with a lot of people being well-off are those where the wealth does not only restrict itself to the upper class. And even Russia has a growing number of middle class people now. “Middle class” however is a broad term, usually one is in it when owning a certain amount of cash. Still that does not mean that they are all the book-reading intellectual type, a stereotype often associated with the middle class. Modern societies tend to include rather a lot of layers of society and then you have traveling lagerlouds, hooligans and wife beaters next to nice educated people who just get this “I am the king of the world” syndrome when they feel for two weeks in a year detached from the constrains of daily life for once.

If you mean Christopher Columbus, then well, his homeland is flooded by tourists now.
From what I’ve heard, tourists from the US are often very much welcomed in many places (compared to tourists from other countries) because they a) will often spend lots of money and b) might additionally give generous tips.
Compared to that I’ve heard that German tourists are often not that favored because many of them are rather stingy on vacation. They’ll stay at cheaper hotels, buy less souvenirs and are more budget-oriented.
So they’re smarter.
