Tour de Taiwan 2019

Jesus. It happened again. Breakaway got taken down the wrong road. Whole race stopped in the middle of nowhere.

The worst has actually happened…again.

Wouldn’t have mattered so much but they had to cancel one of the sprint primes.

Close enough.

In Europe they do cycle racing for a century or longer now, they’re used to it and are organised. But it happened there too.

Were they following one of those tour buses filled with Chinese that get taken to some random gift shop to buy trinkets?
Maybe the Tour de Taiwan was trying the same thing to get the riders to buy souvenirs.

How long has the Tour de Taiwan been? Is it a new thing?

Began in 1978. Became a UCI cat 2.1 race in 2012.

I knew that. I was being a dick.

Not just a dick. A big dick. :eggplant::rofl:

You equate big dicks with aubergine?

Doesn’t everyone?

I always had them down as unripe avocados.

That’s a new thing for a country that had no understanding of bicycle culture. Races in Europe are highly regulated when it comes to traffic, in Taiwan traffic is this very chaotic thing.

So far no traffic accidents though. Just…the entire peleton going the wrong way.

A-kai’s well pissed. Lost the blue jersey thanks to a bonus second won on the line by a Japanese rider. Wudda won it easy if his breakaway group hadn’t been diverted down the wrong road.
