Track Bike Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a track bike from 20-40,000NTD?
I am guessing their resellability is somewhat less than a standard road bike, can anyone confirm this?

Gotta be worth a look.

You got a velodrome to ride on?

oops maybe I made a mistake… I mean a road bike without gears- is this called a track bike?

Single speed or fixed wheel*?

*Our American cousins may prefer to call it a fixie, in the same way they refer to Campag as Campy. Philistines. ;0)

I bought a kick around city bike from Proud Cat. Good people. Kendo has fancier stuff which your price range suggests.

Track bikes have no gears AND NO FREEWHEEL. thus they need no brakes.

A road bike with no gears is generally a single speed with freewheel, so brakes are needed. Can be reverse pedal brakes (back brakes) or rim brakes of various kinds. Even disk brakes now.

Some people run track bikes on the road with no brakes. Still a track bike. Other people put brakes on them at which point they’re technically not track bikes anymore… can’t use brakes on a velodrome or someone will get hurt. But many states require two brakes per bike: fixed gear crankset is then considered to be one brake, and normally a small front brake can then be used for the second brake (if the fork is drilled to accept it).

i recommend getting a single speed for Taipei unless you already are familiar with track bikes (and stopping quickly by skidding, doing track stands, ride backwrds, jump shit while clipped in). Not being able to stop quickly in Taipei is just too stupidly dangerous.

Enlightened thankyou.
