Preferably more with the US as it is a Christian country
Just trolling on that one
English teachers and associated entrepreneurs should setup in Hsinchu area and probably Taoyuan I think if they havenāt already. There are probably better opportunities in those places because of the younger age profile and more money. TSMC alone are going to hire 8000 engineers next year.
Thatās a lot of money to be circulating, some of those engineers are paid extremely well ,; especially through bonuses.
Haha. K man says the township of Shekou is known for making socks and they are a tight-knit communityā¦at least he has a sense of humor or heās bored.
Iām in stitches
No moreā¦
You guys put a sock in it will ya.
You are right about that. Corporate English is the way to go!
TSMCās new plant will be in Tainan.
Even better. The cost of living is great there and so is the weather. Just no public transit to speak of and the same laowai are still there for the more relaxed pace.
They have many new plants. 5nm under construction in Tainan . 3nm, the real biggie is in Kaohsiung. They will have a new packing facility in Zhunan. They also have a massive plant in Taichung. Their HQās is in Hsinchu and the science park is undergoing a major expansion now.
The 8000 new scientists are being hired for a new R&D center in Hsinchu.
This R&D move is a big bet. Its supposed to work on alternatives for silicon in semiconductors. You think TSMC is dominant now? If this pays off they will be untouchable. It is a big if though, thereās zero guarantee anything will come of it.
Thatās why they are such a great company. They are willing to constantly invest, no they KNOW they have to massively invest to stay ahead.
Itās a stitch up.
(This is getting like the two Ronnies )
Iām thinking more like restaurants and stuff for kids, hsinchu is pretty boring .
TSMCās engineers are actually electrical engineers.
I assume the engineers the tech giants are hiring for AI will be coders.
Hsinchu has changed over the years. Itās only boring if you donāt know what youāre doing (a big if!).
That being said, the public transport there remains atrocious.
Guy
You have to have a car or be in someoneās car there or it is very inconvenient.
Technically you can claim overseas parents but whenever Iāve mentioned it to the tax office, they always seem unwilling to help me fill out the deductions form and insist on the standard form. Claiming rent is hard too.
So much for the cheap cost of living there once the engineers move in. And the traffic levels. But good for the local economy, Tainan really needs a boost.
