For amounts over $500,000NT,i believe, the exact money (in GBP) will be wired to your TW bank. It will remain in there as GBP. Then you need to go down to the bank, fill out their ‘non-launder/embezzlement’ form required by the central bank, and they convert it to TWD with the exchange rate for that day.
I have never wired in less than $500,000NT, so I’m not sure if the process is simpler for smaller amounts.
Okay, thanks. I was just kind of worried my bank were going to first convert my GBP to USD then to TWD, which seems horrendously complicated and vulnerable to all kinds of tics and problems of a potentially expensive nature. I’m guessing - and I speak from a position of absolute ignorance of how these things work - that the GBP are sent to Hua Nan as if they’re USD, rather than actually being converted to that currency at any point.
