Translations of Birth / Marriage Certificates

Hi all,

The TARC application requirements for translations are ambiguous to me. Of course the TECO authenticated English originals are needed, but for the translations, are they asking for Taiwanese notarization or a US one?:

  • TECO authenticated certified translation, notarized (in this case, the translator’s signature would be notarized, but the notary would not be notarizing the actual translation as this would be a California based notary. )

  • Getting the English authenticated original translated in Taiwan with a notary would mean BOTH the translator and the actual document would be notarized.

This is all ambiguous because the TECO SF website has the option of authenticating BOTH the English original and the certified notarized translation… but since TECRO doesn’t require a translated FBI check (you get it translated in Taiwan), does that mean the Birth and Marriage certificates also just need to be translated IN Taiwan? Is there any reason I need to authenticate a translation for the BC and MC, but not the FBI check?
