Travel Rights for JFRV

Hello…I’m a Canadian married to a Taiwanese woman in the process of getting my JFRV right now (it’s a total headache!!)… I’m wondering, does anyone know how travel rights work once I have my JFRV? Can I go to and from the country as I please? Could I, for instance, move back to Canada for a couple years with my wife and come back to Taiwan with the same JFRV? Would I have to go through the whole process again?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

As long as you renew the ARC before the due date, you should be ok.

No residency requirements like for APRC?

No, there are no residency requirements. For your first JFRV, it will be valid for 1 year, after that, you can renew for 3 years. So, yes you could leave the country but you have to return at least withing time to keep renewing it.

Great…that’s a big help, thank you!

One other question…does anyone know if my wife needs to come with me to the office when I apply for the JFRV? I think I have everything I need…just want to make sure my wife doesn’t take a day off work unnecessarily. Thanks!
