We are thinking of a 4-5 day getaway. Does anybody have info about these 2 places and experiences with decent hotels that are kid friendly and not too expensive?

As regards Hualian, there are a number of posts on Taroko Gorge, and the Grand Formosa hotel there, but I don’t recollect any on Hualian city itself. I have heard good things about the Hualian ocean park; a resort with aquaria and dolphin shows. I think it has a hotel on site. Comments, anyone?
