[quote=“rujier”]Any news of when it’s coming to Taiwan?
For an English-speaker, do you recommend buying it in HK, Taiwan, Singapore, or the US?
I heard Treo 600 comes in two forms: CDMA and GSM/quad. If I buy an unlocked phone in the USA, how much will it cost?
Are there any voice/phone quality problems?
Thanks,

Not sure when it’s coming to Taiwan. I bought a Treo 600 in the US for my Taiwanese co-worker. I got it under the US$399 upgrade promotion, which is now over, but the phone was unlocked (I listed “other GSM” as the provider). Without the promotion, I think it’s US$499 now. My co-worker has had the phone for about 6 weeks now, and seems pretty happy with the phone overall.
The phone’s software needs to be upgraded though in order to read and write Chinese.
I prefer the P900 too but it is a hell of a lot more expensive than the Treo 600. The P900 has better resolution and features such as Bluetooth WLAN which the Treo 600 doesn’t have. As well, the biggest drawback for me with the treo 600 is the lack of hand recognition. I use a program that recognizes chinese handwriting which I use as my dictionary- plus I prefer writing with graffiti. However, I hear you can get hand recognition through firmware upgrading on the Treo 600.
The P900 doesn’t have WLAN, it has GPRS, which I assume the Treo 600 has also. I think the TREO does have WLAN though.
Prefer the P900 because it functions much better as a phone with better reception and bluetooth to communicate with my bluetooth headsets.
The screen is also larger on the P900 and it has better multimedia capabilities like MP3 playing, Video playing and video recording. The P900 also has more talktime, standby time and voice dialing etc.
The P900 is a smart phone, while the Treo 600 is a PDA phone. That is basically what it comes down to. Depends on what your needs are.
Actually, I do like the Treo’s keyboard, although I haven’t really tried it out, although I know it is not as good as my wife’s Sony Clie UX50 keyboard. Now that is what I want, a Sony Clie UX50 with phone capabilities!
Anyway, go online and do some more research, there are a lot of options out there. Did you consider the O2 Xda II?
Hobart… if you havent tried the Treo’s keyboard how do you know its reception is worse? I have owned (1 stoeln the other lost :s ) both phones and found the differences negligible.
Have also used the O2 extensively… and hated it. Didnt do any of its supposed functions well. Terrible phone and I just dont like the MS OS they have for smart phones.
AWOL, I have never owned a Treo 600. I only played with it or a previous version at Guang Hua market. I currently own a P900.
Guess I think the Treo 600 looks cheap and ugly. To each his own man. Get whatever phone you want. Everyone was going on about the Treo 600 and I thought I would mention the P900 just in case the guy didn’t know about this phone.
