Trevor the rat - kill or keep?

What should Juba do with Trevor?

  • It is vermin - kill it!
  • It is cute - keep it!
  • Someone else might want it - keep it for a while and see.

Last weekend I caught a rat in a trap. I had it sitting in the trap for six days and gave it some food and water. Foolishly, perhaps, I also named it Trevor. Now I have transferred it into a hamster cage. I killed a dozen or more rats last year and I’m tired of doing it. Help me decide whether to kill Trevor or keep it as a pet.

I loved that line.

Keep it. Try and get him to pay some rent.

Take it to Subber and get a free sandwich.

I have 4 snakes.
I could help Trevor get recycled back into the universe.

Raw, meaty bones, right Stray Dog?

Problem solved…Just don’t throw the rat in with more than one. I had two gopher snakes grab each end of a rat once and it was a real mess :smiling_imp:

Release it into the jungle…

UGH…I can’t stand the thought of any living being, “fed” to another while alive and without the chance to even escape.

shudders

What’s the latest status on Trevor, Juba?

Taiwan beauty snake: absolutely gorgeous. (AKA Asian rat snake)

Some people may not like the image so i have just linked it instead.

To be humane, kill the rat first.

And I have had occassion to stop people catching them on the road to eat, the same people who complain of rats eating their rice. Duh!

To kill the rat quickly:

Play Michael Jackson’s “Ben” at high volume…It will make the job easier.
Grab behind the base of the skull.
Grab tail near base and pull with gusto.
Feed to snake.

blooper; mod, feel free to remove, thanks.

"Trev, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
I’ll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You’ve got a friend in me
(you’ve got a friend in me)

Trev, you’re always running here and there
You feel you’re not wanted anywhere
If you ever look behind
And don’t like what you find
There’s one thing you should know
You’ve got a place to go
(you’ve got a place to go)

I used to say “I” and “me”
Now it’s “us”, now it’s “we”
I used to say “I” and “me”
Now it’s “us”, now it’s “we”
Trev, most people would turn you away,
I don’t listen to a word they say,
They don’t see you as I do,
I wish they would try to,
I’m sure they’d think again,
if they had a friend like…Trev,
Like Trev,
Like Trev,
Like Tre-e-vor"

And that’s supposed to make it easier?

Is that one of those games where you try to spot ten differences? I’ve been looking hard but can’t find any.

sorry, I have now nixed the duplicate post (well, not quite duplicate!)

Why don’t you ask Trevor what he thinks?
My Quantum just died today. Be nice to all the little animals, and maybe one day they’ll be nice to you, too. :frowning:

Trevor is living in a hamster cage. He/she?? will take food offered by hand through the bars. He tries to grab the food with his hands, touching my fingers.

That’s good news. Does he have access to books, or the internet? How about yard time?

Oh no, now someone left a tiny sick kitten in a cardboard box outside my door, leaving me with another keep or kill dilemma. I think I will have to let nature take its course with this little fella.

He’s tasting you.
