Trump’s 2024 Campaign Promises Thread

Last time around, I’ve read, Trump was quite beholden to himself about the promises he made during the campaign. I imagine this time will be no different.

So— here are the major promises:

Let’s keep track so in four years there’s no memory hole for people to hide in.

There’s lots of first day/week/before he takes office promises. He has the balls to point the finger at democrats not getting things done. We shall see lol. The whole thing has become a farce. The movie idiocracy has officially been elevated from Comedy to Nostradamus type documentary.

Another watch list to peruse.

EV’s  Don’t make Musk angry, could be fun X/ twitter war

Just look for Agenda47 for more specifics

Economy: Trump proposes cutting taxes and slashing federal regulations, also proposing baseline tariffs on foreign goods in hopes of spurring American manufacturing, which will go up for countries who have “unfair trade practices

Baseline tariffs so so stupid.

Green cards for college graduates

Trump deviated from his usual anti-immigrant rhetoric when he advocated for “automatically” giving noncitizens in the U.S. green cards when they graduate from college – not just people who go through the vetting process – during an episode of the “All In” podcast released in June.

“[What] I want to do, and what I will do, is you graduate from a college, I think you should get, automatically as part of your diploma, a green card to be able to stay in this country. That includes junior colleges, too,” Trump said in the episode, which was taped on Wednesday.

“Anybody graduates from a college, you go in there for two years or four years, if you graduate, or you get a doctorate degree from a college, you should be able to stay in this country,” he continued.

Asked on the podcast if he would expand H-1B work visas for tech workers after fixing the border, Trump said “yes.”

“Somebody graduates at the top of the class, they can’t even make a deal with the company because they don’t think they’re going to be able to stay in the country. That is going to end on Day 1,” Trump said.

“It’s so sad when we lose people from Harvard, MIT, from the greatest schools,” he added

I hope this gets done on. Day one.

That’s great news for US higher ed, they need the students. Canada has tons of students who really just want PR and citizenship. It’s been such a bonanza for higher education but now the government has capped it because some private colleges are just visa puppets with some students complaining about quality, and everyone is mad about cost of housing

Tesla is cooperating with the CCP. By proxy. How Elon gets nasa contracts is beyond me.

Alas, thank God (fake news) that companies can take the [legal] blame for human actions (retarded).

He makes up “policy” on the fly. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

If it’s not legally binding [with consequences], can we agree to stop calling it policy?

Deportations…
Mass deportations are not going to happen. After his first year in office during last term he quit mentioning deporting illegals. Why? Well, after a few factories were shut down by immigration officers hauling away workers…a few governors called him and told him to stop. When a big meat factory closes due to no workers the whole county suffers. Over time the amount of deportation did not even reach the levels during Obama time.

International trade…
After Trump pulled out of the Trans Pacific Partnership the main beneficiary was China. The TPP was the “screw you China” agreement. But when Trump pulled the U.S. out China saw a great opportunity and went around recruiting the TPP members for their own “screw the U.S.” agreement…and were very successful in creating the largest trade agreement ever signed (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership). China is going to increase their cooperation with other countries as the U.S. pursues the “America first” policy. China is greatly increasing manufacturing in Mexico so Trump cannot rely on tarriffs alone but must see how he can crack down on China factories around the world.

Agree with everything you said. The only thing I would add is he had plenty of people to put him in check last time. Now he doesn’t.

Here’s one of his promises I’d like to see happen.

Are you saying he might be telling lies to get votes?

Why what’d he do wrong?
