Trump Sics the National Guard on Lawless Cities

This is so pathetic. The nation has truly been captured by a gang of man-children.

Of course the peon man-children worship the ground they walk on.

In their minds, maybe they aren’t fuck-ups after all; look how far being an insufferable asshole can take you potentially! A rush of vindication stronger than the purest drug hit, I’m sure.

There’s always a spot for them in Newsom’s California.

Linking a PBS article before it gets replaced by Prager U or some other Trump ring-kissing goon.

DC crime rate is not good, for sure.

But Trump lied about it being 41/100k. Just a straight up lie.

In 2024 it was 27.3/100k, just like @Mr_PBH posted. Though I doubt he is even concerned Trump said it was 41/100k. Details, schmetails, right?

But we all know by now – Trump addicts don’t care if Trump lies…just as long as he continues to make them feel good. It really is that simple for some of them.

Bit of a misnomer to compare DC, which is almost completely an urban area, to places that have their safer suburban areas factored into their overall city score. But again, who needs those boring details when we can just get high off of feelings.

Dear Leader is just lying about the crime rate in DC to serve as a reason to engage in more aspiring-dictator foreplay. Clear as day to anyone with a brain or not corrupted to hell at this point.

I went to my local Safeway grocery store here in small town Oregon the other evening and found the main entrance locked. I thought it was some sort of mistake. Saw people entering thru a smaller entrance at the far end of the store. When I asked the first store employee I saw what was going on he told me they had to lock the main entrance after 8pm because it was too far from the registers and people were just wheeling full grocery carts out the main doors without paying. I’m pretty sure those crimes weren’t being reported.

Born and raised in the U.S. and never seen crime so out of control as it is now.

In the US there used to some items locked up in the store. I was surprised by how it’s becoming the norm for more and more items each time I went back.

I’m guessing violent crimes probably are more accurate as they do more often get reported. I guess it’s nice to know that it’s probably safer but having your car broken into like I did doesn’t exactly make you feel safe in the UK.

Like I said, D.C. and L.A. are just trial runs.

I am really curious about the Epstein files. I wonder how many politicians in both parties are involved.

I’m also curious if he will start moving in people who live in camper Vans and those off grid.

Sounds more like people are upset that parents are back home and the party is over. And now the “kids” are whining about having to clean up the mess. Cry me a river

I guess you’re OK with the military enforcing order on the streets on a regular basis. Many people, including many who’ve been in law enforcement and the military, do not, and for good reason. There is no emergency that warrants this action. The crime rate has been dropping. Again - where are the riots? One kid getting beat up at 3 a.m. in a club & bar district?

Whereabouts in the US? I’ve only seen this in blue states like Oregon and Cali when I go there.

cops guarding the entrances to CVS…wow

If you were in the US military then thank you for your service.

it depends where you are. DC I reckon warrants it

No, I wasn’t. 4-F (legally blind). Every other male in my family was, though.

….

Again, farce. Any pretext no matter how puny the infraction. And foreigners just don’t get that literally anything you do in America can be spun into a serious crime if the cops and courts want it to be so. (It’s one thing I do think was ridiculous about Trump’s 34 “felonies”). 10 years for throwing a sandwich seems a tad excessive, don’t you think?

Then I salute you all. I also have family who served. One is dealing with PTSD

but I digress.

To your point about the police overusing their positions - isn’t this why we have the constitution? Citizens aware of their constitutional rights can and do put law enforcement back in their place.

You can even sue the police department and my brother, who studied criminal defense and constitutional law is quick to find examples of successful local wins for citizens…who yes…know the law.

now I don’t know how it works with the national guard…

Trump just said that during his successful meeting with Azerbaijan and Armenian leaders he talked with the leaders about DC vs their capitals.

I also will say this. A few years back I had the pleasure of taking the family to DC. We stayed at a hotel which was near the White House. We would have breakfast at a cafe at the hotel and would sit outside. I remember the trash pile outside would just keep growing and no one picked it up while we were there. DC was disappointingly dirty.

The roads taking you to DC are also full of potholes and are an embarrassment.

I haven’t been to Armenias capital but I’ve been to Baku recently and I will say that it is kept immaculate every time I go there.

You’d think the capital the US would do a better job representing the US :frowning:

I’m glad our brave boys in blue are cracking down on dangerous thugs like this. A well executed use of manpower & public resources.

This is likely a mischaracterization of what happened. If LE didn’t care about the well-being of somebody in a wheelchair, it might take two officers (depending on how hard the disabled person chooses to fight) to cuff them.

That they used six officers is a function of doing no more harm than absolutely necessary to the person arrested. It’s one of the most frustrating things about arresting some Americans, that after becoming violent they (like you and whoever tf Madden is) crow about how many it took to stuff them in the back of a squad car.

In the pic the person is wearing what looks like a spit hood, placed there by the arresting officers to keep from getting spit on and to keep tempers in check (including the officers, who are only human themselves).

And this?

No idea, but these days the encounter was almost certainly recorded by the body-worn cameras on every cop involved. If the person chooses to fight charges in court those recordings will be entered into evidence. They’ll have their day.

Actually the most frustrating thing is that after some Americans become violent with the police, the president pardons them and “law and order” supporters are silent.

And if he was wearing a MAGA hat, a pardon is in his future.
