Workers on a construction site for the Neihu Line of Taipei’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system found another unexploded bomb yesterday, the second one in a week. Police said workers found the giant bomb while digging a passageway between the Songshan Airport and the Songshan MRT station, prompting police to seal off the area. A member of the bomb squad said the bomb could have been dropped by a US plane during World War II and had probably been buried for more than 50 years, given the corrosion on the surface of the bomb. There was no danger of the bomb accidentally exploding, the bomb expert added. The 225kg bomb was only a dozen or so meters from one that was found last Friday. Construction workers discovered the first Word War II-era US bomb in July 2004.
I don’t know about you, but that makes me pretty nervous!
In Germany they find a lot of 2nd world war bombs. No wonder, considering 1.35 mio tons of bombs thrown over Germany. Only Hamburg alone got more then 100,000 bombs. They say 10-15% didn’t explode. It’s estimated there are still around 2000 unexploded bombs in the earth only in Hamburg. More then 10,000 have been found and deactivated. I couldn’t find a statistic about how many explode, but they say that average two professional deactivator (don’t know how you call that profession in english) die per year.

I think the closest is in Okinawa.
That’s good news. I had a terrifying mental image of Mr Cha Bu Duo and son muscling these two bombs into the back of their little blue van and thundering away to their Zhong He workshop to smash away the explosive rubble and salvage the recyclable metals.

Yeah, that’s EXACTLY the image I had in my mind too.

Quite frankly I would not rule that out.
I have seen exactly that happen, and the aftermath, in other 3rd world countries.
Deactivated my arse. Johnny Bluetruck’s already sold it to the Vietnamese for $200 and has promised them “plenty more where that came from - hmm she’s nice… your sister? don’t mind if I do…” whilst Bluetruck Jr. is knocking out exact replicas in his ground floor front room next door to the police station on Bing Lang Jie at the rate of five a day.
