Two old ladies, beer, xiao long bao breakfast

This morning in a shop near my house there are two old ladies having breakfast with Taiwan beer and xiao long bao dimsum. I noticed this frequently and there is no stigma attached that one would have back in my home country.

Another unique experience living in Taiwan. I wish I had this picture to show people when they ask me why I drink beer at lunch sometimes.

Especially among working folks, the prevailing attitude towards beer is more…German, I guess?
Unlike in most of the West, folks in Taiwan consider getting wasted to be just one of several reasons to drink beer.
Sellers at the day market will often knock one back when it’s hot.
Seeing some old guy cracking one at 8 am on a Sunday morning is a hoot.
